Game Thread: Northeastern

I hate to say it if the Tigers lose this game, it’s on Xaivian. His hero ball act when he has open teammates has to stop. 4/16 from the flor today.

Mitch upset re no foul call, but really, a poor shot.

4/17 now.

Huge three from Peters to go up 1 with 26 seconds to play. Wow!

Oh boy. Let’s see if they can pull out another close one.

We don’t deserve to win but sometimes deserve’s got nothing to do with it.

ABDULLAHI!!!

Goaltend mistake followed by the clutch push shot.

EDIT: 2.0s left to get a win.

All the attention to Pierce; Abdullahi open! (But misses free throw, of course.)

MALIK WITH THE STEAL!!!

I love this guy!!!

Make or miss these FTs, that should be enough.

He smelled that pass.

What an insane start to the season.

We basically got outplayed 3 times due to lack of offensive rhythm… and still won all three games with clutch plays down the stretch.

Abdullahi is an absolute gem - even made his 2 FTs at the end!

Yes he is. Seems to be the total package–defend, rebound, and perhaps a deft shooting touch (still a bit early on that aspect).

I really think he should be starting, even as a non-shooter. His defense and finishing ability is too valuable to only play 10-15mpg.

Malik isn’t like most freshmen - he played on the #1 ranked high school team in the nation with future NBA draft picks Cameron and Cayden Boozer. He’s ahead of the curve like Pierce was.

Once again, Davis kept us in the game for the final heroics. My 77 year old heart can’t take many more of these.

Looked that way re: Lee to me too.

I’ll say this for Lee though. He still made winning plays on a day he had nothing in the tank. Some big steals and great passes in big spots. A true point guard.

Hopefully he and Pierce regress to the mean vs. Loyola-Chicago.

Davis and Peters were amazing today. Fearless shooting from both. Not surprising but sorely needed after Pierce and Lee were clearly gassed.

Didn’t mean to overlook Peters. When it’s crunch time everyone seemed to step up one way or another.

Clarification on the Jack Scott situation:

A source said there was no eligibility issue with the NCAA or Ivy League that prevented him from playing, but rather it was a mutual decision between both parties to ease him back into the team. There was no timetable on if or when he would play, but they decided it was going to be on Sunday during a meeting this week.

Whatever happened, I’m glad to have him back. Especially with Deven Austin taking personal leave.

Third straight gritty come back win. Wow! Xaivian with a great pass to Malik for the go ahead basket. Dalen and Blake were fantastic.

Sounds wild. Given how much I hate bad D it might be for the best that I couldn’t watch this one. Kind of interesting to have two games in a row where The Others had to do a lot to pull out the win. Glad to hear Peters got hot again.
