Harvard @ Princeton

Harvard -3.5

Technically still alive for a Ivy Madness spot, but the team morale couldn’t be lower. Harvard is full of confidence and should take this fairly easily.

I expect a solid first half, followed by a 2nd half letdown. You know, the usual.

Happy is out. When it rains…..

There’s the solid first half. 12pt lead but it doesn’t feel good.

8 TOs and Harvard went 2-16 on mostly open 3s. That probably won’t last.

Bring on the 2nd half meltdown!

Surreal game. Tigers shooting the lights out but turning the ball over with abandon. Harvard can’t hit the side of the barn and looks surprisingly uninspired. Crowd did not seem prepared for the Tigers to play well tonight. Slowly getting into it.

FWIW, Cornell just beat Yale. Which means we have to hope they win out.

If we win this game, that is. Big “if.”

Here comes the collapse. 13-2 run for Harvard. 3pt game.

And the dread descends on Jadwin (again). 17 point lead down to 3.

Aaaand Harvard leads. So pathetic.

You’d think they’d play a little harder at home with their season on the line. But no, Harvard is going to humiliate us all over again.

Dalen has made 3 lazy passes at the top of the key leading to fastbreak layups/FTs.

Atrocious. What is up with him?

Hinton >>>>>> Princeton

Gonna take a buzzer-beater 3 to win this.

This team can’t stop humiliating itself and the program. We can be up 50 points and Mitch Henderson will find a way to lose. We’re so lucky to have him!

Now that our ILT hopes are dead, I’m actively hoping for blowout losses to end the season. Anything to put Mitch on thinner ice. He won’t be fired of course, but if he doesn’t deliver a league title and NCAA bid next season, the powers that be might finally look at other options.

while you are rooting against the team, spare us hearing
about how humiliated you are by a team that almost beat the
League leaders without two starters.

Starting to worry about the mental health of these young men. Sure this year has been absolutely brutal for us fans but it has to be a lot worse for these kids.

They squandered 15pt and 17pt leads against Harvard by getting outhustled and making dumb mental mistakes both times. Spare me the self-pitying participation trophies. This was a sorry effort from a complacent head coach and “star” player.

That’s another reason I’m actively hoping for a coaching change.

Losing like this over and over and over and over again is NOT good for team culture. I can’t imagine how hopeless and embarrassed those players must feel.

But hey, remember that fluke Sweet 16 run 3 years ago?

You are definitely my go-to guy on team. morale.

The postgame quotes don’t contradict me:

“There’s so many ways we could have won the game today,” Hicke said. “Just taking care of the ball, if we limited their second-chance opportunities, I think we win that game by 10 points. It starts with the juniors got to lead by example better. I don’t think it has anything to do with a short bench or whatever.”

“We haven’t been in this situation, which is being eliminated,” coach Mitch Henderson said. “We get to play tomorrow night. That’s a real gift. We’ll get there tomorrow.”

Mitch’s quotes are just dumb and nonsensical. He is totally checked out. The players deserve better.

The difference in the game was turnovers and rebounding. Harvard had 14 more shots as a result. We needed Caden Pierce tonight on the glass. As bad as it is to lose by blowing a big lead, the Cornell and Columbia losses were much worse. Tonight Princeton competed and fought back after blowing the lead. This team will be great next year. Seals was fantastic. I also heard that we’re getting a 6’11 center next year. Gokinsmen, when Princeton wins 22 games next year you will owe Mitch an apology.

Great next year?
