Very nice recent news regarding the new head coach. I guess the rest of the staff will be finalized after the NCAA tournament. I am now definitely rooting for Florida to win. Regarding the players, Cobb has been reported to be leaving the team, and Noland and Bedri entered the portal before knowing who the new coach was and will decide to stay or not during the following weeks. I feel we will lose a lot of experience if they leave, but I don’t know up to which point it might be better to develop new players as a fresh start. Arop has also been reported to be entering the transfer portal soon, I guess because of the lack of minutes. I have zero insight about the incoming class, so any info is welcomed. Let’s make this 1-13 IL season part of the past and move on to a better a renewed basketball program. First stop, getting into the first ever ILT appearance (since the recent format has been taking place). ---

I’m optimistic that most of the guys that we hope return will do that. I completely understand why a kid puts his name in there. The incoming class is: Connor Igoe - PF from Brooklyn Myles Franklin - SG from VA John Laboy - Combo G from Houston Small class and if anyone does leave, Hov has some room to add someone late. ---

The entire junior class is now on the transfer portal plus Arop and Cobb, that are the only ones who made official announcements. What is going on? Is this a full team rebuild? ---

Its a bit of a disgrace if so many players transfer. I used to think the main point was to get a Columbia education and BB was an extracurricular. ---

It’s the opposite now. Most players want to maximize their basketball opportunities first. More than half of the players in the league want to play professionally, oversees in most cases. Look at Columbia players in recent years. Lots of guys playing oversees. The still want the degree but won’t utilize it until later. ---

100 percent. Look at Mike Smith. He’s been overseas for a few years and making decent money. Maybe he gives it up at age 30 and comes home and figures out his next step. I bet at least 2 of the current 3 grad transfers do the same thing. ---

Is he a wing in our league? With the rebounds and height, seems more like a 4. I guess we’ll see. Seems like a good get who could push Thompson or be the 3 in a bigger lineup. ---

Laboy started and led (along with a kid going to SMU) the Texas 4A state champs. It is mostly private schools but they played almost 40 games and also beat Bellaire, St John Bosco, etc. Plus he started on a nationally ranked AAU team, JL3 Elite. Finally, he had some nice offers and interest. On the tape I saw he was a good player. I am not sure if he will ever play at Miami FL, however. ---

I like the incoming class of 3 first years and 3 transfers, a few of who might contribute. Again, Coleman was very productive over the last 10 games last year at New Orleans. Soulis has looked good overseas this summer. Athletic, 6’10" and runs the floor well. I saw NYU a few times last year and Sanders is a solid PG, shoots well and is mature. NYU went to the D3 final last year and the elite D3 teams are very good. Has anyone seen any of the 1st year kids play?
