Men's Post Season Awards

Forget the triumvirate. McCaffrey deserves this outright. Now 9-1 in their last 10 Ivy games, including beating the two regular season winners in the ILT without Roberts.

We got a taste of that guy during Princeton-Penn I this year. Not my cup of tea either.

I also wonder if the other coaches had the appetite to reward the new guy for leaning into the portal (and NIL?) so heavily.

If this is an example of what’s to come, maybe the league should create a “general manager of the year award.”

I’ll be rooting for the Quakers next week even as I worry about my school for watching others bring in transfers but refusing to do so itself.

Really underrated just how nice it would be to have the rest of the league’s fans offering the delicious whine of sour grapes in the wake of Penn being good again.

Power and Lueth are it in terms of guys that Fran brought in this year. And with Power, it was fortunate circumstances. McCaffrey had known him for any number of years, they stayed in touch even after Power went elsewhere. Then both were looking for new places to go at the same time.

It’s funny, though–we never hear you folks complain about transfers when Penn’s not doing well. Only when they win is this subject brought up. Kind of like the Republicans only bringing up the deficit when there’s a Democrat in charge. But when the GOP controls the purse strings? No concerns at all about deficit spending.

What previous transfers are you talking about?

Ethan Roberts, Mike Zanoni, Dylan Williams, Johnnie Walter, Michael Moshkovitz are all transfers to Penn in the last 4 years.

Andy Toole, Matt Maloney, Ira Bowman among the many significant ones in the more distant past as well, a list that of course also includes Fran McCaffrey.

Penn & Cornell with the largest undergrad populations have always had more room for transfers than the other schools, but the others save Princeton* have all had a few—Simmons at Yale being one of the current crop.

*Except for the Spencer Gloger weirdness

Yale has had two in my lifetime

Dom martin from princeton
And Casey Simmons from northwestern

Both were great additions!:joy:

But no TJ Power, Matt Maloney or Ira Bowman, sadly

Caleb Wood was a major contributor in Penn’s last NCAA team, and was a transfer.

Matt Macdonald was a transfer on that 2018 team as well,

Not sure that Hicke didn’t get a single vote. I think ties determine where the cutoffs are. So it could be that the HMs got 2 votes each and then there were others who got one. At least that’s my vague recollection of how it works.

Well yes, but a “who shouldn’t have made it” thread doesn’t seem right. Can I just have 7 second teamers. We already have an extra. I’ll add one more in Mitchell-Day and make Hicke an HM.
