Is the older piece of that partially related to a hangover from the COVID era? Will there continue to be 24 and 25 year olds eligible going forward? But are they also thinking of adding a fifth year of eligibility? Very interested to see how the portal process unwinds this year for the Ivies.
as of now, yes. covid extended eligibility to 5 years.
last i heard the ncaa ( which has been largely defanged) was considering extending it to 5 years. I dont know where this stands other than a quick AI search…my guess is the house settlement expected soon on revenue sharing based in part on a court case will factor in to whatever changes.
i am surprised by the runaway NIL inflation i quoted under a different topic on this board. This being said, i am also encouraged as to Ivy recruiting so far as I have posted recurringly, particularly Yale’s.
i do believe that 5 year eligibility is a major problem and why i was so bullish on the SEC going in to this tournament and concerned how we match up with grown men particularly in the lane.
also fwiw bc i enjoy this board…Yale’s team apparently had a sickness break out. It is unclear when–before or after the NCAAs. One starter was admitted to the hospital upon his return to New Haven.
this is from a student close to the team. I consider it a good source but I obviously cant confirm it.
Danny was bothered by Broomes physicality/athleticism last year and was not great. He’s a leveled up player now (especially physically) but this will be a good test for him being a projected lottery pick
Tough to blame a guy who’s getting life changing money before 22, is practicing against better players, and has better exposure for NBA scouts. He made the right decision, hope he continues doing well.
Looks like the wheels are coming off for Michigan late in the second half. They can’t get a stop, and the turnovers are piling up on the offensive end of the floor.
