Wanted to pop in and say that was one heck of a basketball game. Rarely am I ever not upset after a loss for the Zips, but this one I can accept. Akron either didn’t have the horses in the barn in the paint or the defensive scheme to stop Yale (or both), and Yale had to be perfect to beat Akron despite that. You guys ended up being perfect (ridiculous performance from the charity stripe), so hats off. Really fun team to watch. On ZipsNation (Akron’s fan forum), I called Yale the Jedi Order of Fundamentals. Rarely will we ever see a team as disciplined and as capable of execution as Yale. Townsend is what you’d get if Jimmy Chitwood and former Ohio State PG Aaron Craft had a baby; what a ridiculous player he is.

Statistically, that may have been the greatest basketball game I’ve ever witnessed. The box score is wild to look at with both teams shooting over 60% from the field and nearly 50%+ for both teams from 3P, plus the 100% free throw performance by the Bulldogs.

We’ve played 2 straight years and I hope that isn’t the end of this matchup. A home-and-home series starting next year would be nice. Good luck the rest of the season and Go Zips!

That is a funny description of.townsend and on point.

Was a fun game, no.doubt.

Unfortunately we got exposed.by Akron guard action and were hardly perfect on that end.

Samson being hurt didn’t help as he is an elite rim protector and would challenge/eliminate many easy drives. He is our linchpin on d until we can better defend guards 1 on 1

This being said we are becoming more balanced on offense which along w maybe “perfect” offense/fts saved the day at least for now.

Good luck the rest of the year!

Funny, as the game wound down and Akron made ridiculous shot after ridiculous shot, I had the thought that I shouldn’t be that disappointed if we lost. It was a fun game to watch, a credit to both teams.

Im blindly assuming Aletan was dealing with cramps yesterday? That was at least what was announced for his limping during the Rhode Island game

I don’t know but I hope it is just a recurring cramp

The trainer looked concerned and confused when evaluating him during a 2nd half timeout. He clearly wanted to play through it and hard to see how she would let him if a quad injury

Yup, can’t be that bad if they let him play through it, I’m sure.
