Mitch should have challenged the call at top of the key when Dalen head faked his guy into the air and got fouled shooting from behind the arc. They called it a non shooting foul and gave Dalen 1 and 1 instead of 3 FTs. We were robbed of a free throw that could have been the difference.
tough loss, but love how this team competes.
No second guess. I call time out. Maybe set up Malik on the block. You shut out roberts and lose by one. Crusher
Thatâs another thing. If youâre not calling timeout⌠then thatâs another reason to attack earlier. You can call a timeout if you get trapped or have to dive onto a loose ball.
They had him covered. Levine was all over him
To be fair, Dalen is good at baiting defenders into FTs. He can punish overplays.
Oh well. They played a great second half. Just got outmuscled in the first half.
Also, we had Stanton on the bench (minor injury?) and both he and Dalen were in foul trouble all game.
This is the first Ivy loss where Iâm not really angry. Penn was due, we were short-handed and we came up one bucket short.
Gotta get one more road win though. Between Brown and Yale, I think we gotta take the Pizz.
Brown had Yale on the ropes for most of the game last night. They are going to beat some teams they arenât supposed to down the stretch.
True. But Iâm also not ruling out a win at Yale on the final day.
Yale could have the #1 seed clinched and our guys may need that game just to make the ILT.
Not saying Jones will rest his starters or anything, but our guys will likely be playing with an added edge.
Donât think Mitch could have challenged the foul call on Davis at the top of the key. I think you can only challenge out of bounds calls?
Looking at the challenge rules I donât think it was challengeable:
Plays you can formally challenge:
⢠Determine which team caused the ball to be out of bounds following an out-of-bounds ruling by the officials.
⢠Until the last two minutes of the game, to determine, following the ruling of a foul, whether a secondary defender was located within the restricted area, or to determine whether a ruled goaltending or basket-interference violation was correct.
You can appeal various calls but the only one that involves correct # of FTs is more of a âfoot on the lineâ review, not âin the act of shootingâ review.
⢠Determine whether a player fouled on an unsuccessful try shall be awarded two or three free throws.
When Davis took that last shot, I had a flashback to this:
Me too.
Me too
This doesnât sound good for Stanton. From Mitch in the Trentonian:
âWeâve had some ups and downs with injuries and (it) looks like we are in the same spot again now. We got to just keep finding guys to fill in.â
Also. But tv viewers could immediately see from the trajectory it had no chance.
AJ got the better of Davis on that play as well as on offense yesterday. When Henderson finally put Clark on him down the stretch, McCaffery should have had the team isolate on whoever Davis was guarding, especially with 4 fouls.
Did anyone see when the Stanton injury occurred? I caught only the last 5 minutes live, and havenât been able to find it on replay.
Henderson said after columbia he was playing on one leg in that game. I heard no further details.
Jack is clearly limping on a YouTube video of the end of the game and aftermath posted on Penn page of the other board.
