Yale finishes off its 2-for-1 agreement with URI at JLA. As a Hoosier, I don’t think much of Archie Miller’s ability with Xs and Os, but the man can recruit. This will be a good test for Yale — how can they handle a team with more athleticism than they have? URI forces a lot of turnovers and gives up a lot of offensive rebounds, so this looks like a game where discipline can help put it away.
Excited for tonight. Last year’s game was quite chippy but most of Rhody’s roster is gone by now. Vegas has it at Yale -8.5 with KP/Bart having Yale by over double digits. Three of Rhody’s games have been at home vs some of the worst teams in D1.
I completely whiffed on this upcoming MTE which starts with Green Bay. This could allow us a few resume boosters. Would play Charleston or UMASS (both in the mid 100s) in the second round and likely Akron or Oregon St if things go well (top 100ish teams) in the title game. Would be good for us. Not bad for a weekend trip to the Virgin Islands especially considering in my day the MTE was in Kent, Ohio.
We currently lead the country in 3-pt shooting at 50.8% almost entirely on the backs of Fox (10-15) and Townsend (8-14)!
we look stagnant and frankly not very tough when it matters.
they are defending the 3 point line well but this is a very disappointing effort in the 2nd half.
i do think a few reach in calls would have been helpful but our flaws are showing also
we also got outcoached. our substitution patterns were strange and killed momentum in 2nd half
Yeah, I think there are two stories here. One is that a team that stinks at shooting got hot, and so it goes. But the other is that we gotta hit the weight room. URI can only win by out-hustling and out-physicaling most nights. Good game for learning lessons.
lastly when you see an ivy league post on our 3 point shooting leading the nation…it will mean revert or theirs will.
way it goes.
Disappointing effort. Quick athletic guards got to the rim way too easily
uri played like they wanted it more in the 2nd half.
it is dehabilitating when they hit some of those contested shots. the jumper over samson with the shot clock winding down is but one example.
i feel like we have some size and brawn but in a portal era you are playing against some grown men. this was concerning to me and at home.
i think we all suspected some fools gold on 3 point shooting stats. i didnt expect getting outworked and outhustled.
the one stretch where samson got a cramp or whatever. you get a tap dunk on the dudes head but he responds with his own +1. yikes
and the ensuing subs and momentum killed the vibe
I thought Braithwaite and Arlington looked comfortable which is encouraging. Hopefully a loss like this will be better for us in the long run.
