I heard he was in the hospital with a really bad case of the flu before that game. At least he played like it.
Jordan had a 105 fever. He did just fine in his “flu game”. No excuses if your out there.
- Most people agree that 105 is exaggeration. 103 is usual accepted fever. And each degree makes a HUGE difference.
- One cannot compare viral gastroenteritis to influenza (the most likely infections in this particular comaparison based on what I have read) in terms of duration of illness and degree of systemic debility.

Xaivian lost over 10-12 pounds in under two weeks in 2024 (!!!). And he’s already very skinny. He even missed the ESPN+ ILT preview event the previous day because he was in the hospital getting fluids. It wasn’t his fault. It was just horrible luck. For comparison, Dylan Harper - #2 pick in 2025 who would be #1 in most draft years - had the same weight-dropping stomach flu and played like crap when he tried to come back early.
As we found out from The Last Dance documentary, Jordan didn’t actually have “the flu.” He had food poisoning after playing poker all night and getting a 2am pizza delivered (i.e. made with ingredients that were left lying out on the counter all day).
Lee had his first bad game in over a month today. But so did most of the Florida team. It happens. Better to get a stinker out of the way now than next week.
Just discussing medical aspects of the comparison.
