I watched the Newman School play several times and was impressed with O’Keefe. That team had several P4 recruits and O’Keefe was really good. In some ways he was their best player. Very mature, steady, smart kid. Also can shoot it and very athletic. Saw him dunk on guys a few times. I’m not certain but I don’t think Princeton has a returning true PG on the roster and I can see O’Keefe getting some important mins. Stanton seemed more of a 2 guard if my memory is correct.

Dalen Davis is coming back and is a true PG. But O’Keefe is an exciting talent. He and Higgs could crack the rotation as freshmen.

competition seems a bit weak and he is not the physical specimen of
Pierce, but maybe he can contribute as a frosh. No one had Caden
as an early contributor. Would be happy to be surprised again.

Interesting news this morning with the courts providing injunction to allow class of 22 kids a 5th year of eligibility. Ah - - the plot thickens. The Caden Pierce sit out year should be a one time event… obvious he had no way of knowing this was coming but under yesterday’s rulings he could have played last year and still played a 5th year at Purdue. All the seniors on this year’s team will have that option.
How bout Lee returns?

I’m sure it will be evaluated.. Florida will take him back. The days of 20 year old freshmen are over and will throw a curveball into many sports. Clock starts now starts September 1 of a given year. If you turn 19 prior to September 1st.. clock starts but you get 5 years to compete. If you turn 20 prior entering college.. you only will have 4 years to compete.

And so the circus adds another clown show. College hoops gets more ridiculous and pathetic every year.
Lee should go to a bad power conference team or top mid-major where he can be the #1 option.
And after that, he can sue for a 6th year and play for a slightly better team. And after he’s granted a 7th year, try to get NJIT to the Sweet 16. In his age 30 college season, maybe he can play for Duke as a player-coach.

Yes - - most likely. This class is “grand-fathered” in and the assumption is that since he will be competing in his 4th year and didn’t participate in any basketball last season .. not one minute of training, practice, etc.. he would have a 5th year of eligibility if he wants it. I’m sure it is not that simple but given how carefully he and his family approached this process he would get it if he wants it.
It will hinge on how well he does @ Purdue this year, I would suspect.
If you have 5 years to complete eligibility this is yr 5 for Pierce. He chose to sit out a year. Not really sure of his status.

It will depend if the recent court injunction stands up. He could be eligible for an extension to play 5 active seasons given he did not play last year. The class of 22 is getting a legal exemption and I think his case would have merits because he can argue he is being punished for getting his degree and maintaining his eligibility under the old rules and then they changed the rules. He is not seeking due to injury, coaching change, or lack of playing time etc..
