Bradley (ESPN Events Invitational)

First of three games in three days, all against quality mid-major teams. Based on Instagram photos, Dalen is with the team but not practicing. Safe to say that he’s not playing. So yeah… this event could be very ugly. I’d be shocked to go anything other than 0-3 with at least 2 blowout losses.

I just hope we see some breakout offensive performances from guys like Stanton and Whitfield. Even when Davis comes back, he needs help.

Couldn’t find those Instagram photos but it’s no surprise to hear Davis is not going to play. Would love to hear if it is a high or low ankle sprain. Pierce as we recall had a low ankle sprain and a long recovery.

So we will be watching to see who benefits from the unexpected PT.

Stanton on fire early! Another 4pt play to boot.

Trailing 40-34 at the half. Superb 19 minutes followed by a final minute collapse to give Bradley an 6pt lead.

Still making tons of rookie mistakes, but they are getting better. Stanton really feels like a future star.

Stanton did step up in DD’s absence in the first half. 16 points on good shooting. But the best part of it was that the half-court offense actually looked like an offense, despite way too many turnovers. That was some of the best flow and repeated actions I’ve seen in a while, and the ball got across the floor, there was constant movement, spacing was good, etc. Easy to watch, and Huggins was stellar up there in the high post distributing the ball.

Defensively…the want to is definitely there, but letting Bradley put up 17 treys, many barely or not contested, isn’t good. Need to make them a little bit uncomfortable on the perimeter. Great effort on the boards, though, especially given Bradley’s size.

Feels like Huggins should be starting and playing more minutes than Happy. He’s doing everything better right now.

We’re gonna lose this but Clark just delivered an insane pass to a cutting Hicke. Best one I’ve seen in years.

Their ace Johnson coming in after sitting with fouls has made a huge difference on both ends. He has the majority of the court savvy available to both teams.

We must lead all of D-I in “pick six” layups/dunks. At least 3 per game. 5 this game.

We are making some truly embarrassing turnovers. This is like watching a middle school game.

Man, Johnson is single handedly destroying Princeton. Pound for pound has to be among the most entertaining college players around, such energy and quickness.

Freshmen making a ton of ugly freshmen mistakes but I’m generally encouraged by the play of the team without DD out there. If anything the team chemistry looks better without DD tonight.

Good grief. 16 turnovers tonight with 12 minutes to play.

It’s gonna be a season of moral victories. At least in non-conference.

The team already looks better than I thought. We just have too many raw players with no chemistry… yet.

I thought it was hysterical that they had Johnson playing safety in their 1-3-1. Not too many guys under 6 feet tall could probably pull that off.

Oh man. This is getting hard to watch.

Stanton would rather turn it over than shoot the ball.

More nice passes and backcuts tonight than we’ve seen all season but up to 19 (!) turnovers.

20 turnover party!!!

Turnovers getting worse and worse. Four times up the court in a row just random throws that went nowhere near a teammate. Amazing the game is only `13 points deficit.

Mostly because only 1 point in total has been scored in the contest over the past 4+ minutes.
