Had offers from Oregon, Harvard, Pepperdine and George Mason according to Verbal Commits as per above link. I believe this is the 5th and final recruit for the class, all high school kids. Assume there is a bit of room for a potential transfer.

Daughter just told me that her boss son is recruited to Columbia for basketball. We’re here in Orlando so assume it’s the kid from Orlando. Good luck to him and you guys.

The full class is out.

Lost Richmond to Kansas.

Added Langford from SJSU

Added a late commit Nino Zarkovic from Croatia

Cruz mentioned in separate post

7 newcomers replace 5 departures

What happened with Richmond? He looked like a really promising recruit and was committed until very recently

Agree Richmond was a promising recruit. But at the last minute he flipped to Kansas. Both parents went there, his grandfather went there, his brother goes there, and many other family and friends have attended KU. Still a very good class, and also really like this very late addition of the Croation PG, Zarkovic. Here is his video from last season in Croatia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dt5oeVLBLAs

Maybe we get him back if Self retires and the new guy doesn’t re-recruit him.

Many thanks to the Hoopsfan for brightening up my day with the youtube video featuring point guard Nino Zarkovic. The Croatian looks very solid on film.

Yes, fantastic court vision. Tremendous passer. Good mid-range and 3-point stroke. Quick release and quick 1st step to the basket. Plays smart. Future star?

I agree. Could be a future star for the Lions at the point. When I look at the incoming five, I see three very athletic guards in Trae, Nino and Josh, one very good shooter and one very promising big. Columbia graduated several very talented players, particularly Kenny Noland, Blair Thompson, Avery Brown and Bedri. Unfortunately, they only played under Coach Hovde for one year, so we will never inow what would have happened if a coaching change was made sooner. It will be interesting to see how Avery Brown does in his postgraduate year at St. Johns. Meanwhile Coach Hovde and his coaching staff is outstanding and the future is bright for the Lions.
