hear this kid is a great get for yale
baby wolf by way of canada
“pushing 7’” and has “outstanding ball skills”

i havent seen him live but quotes above from a text i got today from a great talent evaluator who was surprised he picked yale over known offers from power 5

also see james talking up d3 kid may and the oppty for some of these kids to make transition up

you heard it here first on that talent pool tho we’ll see on may specifically

need to replace experience via that well and find young kids with potential like gonda to keep future ivy title dreams alive in this era

Can you share his name? Nothing came up from my search. And with respect to opportunities for Division 3 players to move to the Ivies, I recall that Miye Oni was planning to go to Williams before he got on Yale’s radar screen late in the recruitment process. There won’t be a lot of players of Oni’s caliber who actually play at the Division 3 level (or in the Ivy League for that matter) but I’m sure you’re right there are some who can contribute at Yale or another Ivy. As with Connor May, it may help mitigate losing some of the talent transferring like Isaac Celiscar did to Baylor.

Isaac Gonda. is doing prep at Albany Academy
disclaimer: i never comment on a prospect unless i have seen them live. i have never seen this kid. but , as noted, i got the text from one of the best talent evaluators i know so i flagged it.

i have seen connor may live 1x vs emory (natl runner up). he has a quick release and decent size. he bullied in the post a bit to stat pad which will be difficult at ivy level imo. i am just repeating what i wrote when he committed.

my comments about d3, however, are informed by watching 10 UAA games live each of the last 2 years.
also in the 90s i played prep in one of best leagues in country.
2 of the better players in that league bypassed d1 and went to williams. they won a natty there. that was a long time ago but i still think illustrative.

i told coach jones the emory pg and center would be additive to yales roster, for example. the pg went to an nba camp but likely goes to europe. he wasnt looking to move so more of an example. the center would be redundant with some incoming freshmen skill sets so merely another example of a kid who cld contribute at ivy level.

the more youth ball i coach and watch the more you see an amazing depth of talent. the bad news is you dont see many wolfs or celiscars who dont have d1 opps so i am only flagging depth pieces more than anything.
the emory players are all high on may and played him 2x a year. so i think whether he can contribute meaningfully is a very good test case for how high academic d3 translates for positions 3-5. i think 1-2 positions are easier as the limitation usually isnt size.

Thanks. Good to see continued strong recruiting possible. We’re going to need this year’s sophomores and frosh to become big contributors if Yale is going to contend.
