Cornell 2025-2026

I’ll attempt to stir up some much needed discussion here. We lose a bunch of big pieces from last year, primarily Naz, AK and Guy. I think we’ll need guys like Hinton and Beccles to step up into starting roles but my main concern is at center. While we can usually get away with not having a real center due to our gimmicky style of play, we have absolutely zero size returning. Hopefully LaBeau can come out of nowhere and run away with the role, but I’m not too hopefully.

I honestly don’t track our basketball recruits at all until i see them playing for us so any info on the guys coming in would be greatly appreciated if anyone has delved into that.

I would be very satisfied with the season if we make the Ivy tourney and I get to watch us play a home game there. I’m comfortable saying that Yale, Princeton and Penn are the likely top three so I’m really just hoping we can sneak into that fourth spot, and miracles can happen from there with a home crowd behind us.

If Caden Pierce chooses to sit out this year, as is rumored, Princeton is not a lock for top four.

Just found this place … just in time as the season approaches.

Beccles really impressed me last year. He may make up for the loss of Naz. Gotta hope that the fact that LaBeau was at Washington St. means he can play in the Ivies. He didn’t make any impression on me last year.

Just received the Ivy League preview for what used to be Three Man Weave. They predict:

  1. Yale
  2. Princeton
  3. Harvard
  4. Cornell
  5. Columbia
  6. Brown
  7. Dartmouth
  8. Penn

DaMaryon Fishburn (CC transfer) listed as one of the top newcomers.

One concern is that Fiegen has reclassified as a senior much like Okereke did last year. It reflects an unfortunate new pattern is that similar to Caden Pierce and Lee at Princeton we appear to just getting 3 years of basketball eligibility for top players. The Ivies are in need of reform in such areas as financial aid, graduate eligibility, and NIL to be competitive in the future IMO otherwise we are in danger of being a feeder to leagues that offer better financial opportunities.

2 through 8 are so hard to predict this year. Agreed that the frontcourt is the question for Cornell. Beccles should step up to fill Nazir’s spot, but how they replace Okereke and Ragland will determine whether Cornell stays in the top 4.

Dartmouth feels low to me at 7. Cornish is a big loss, of course, but they maintain most of the other pieces. Seems like they lose less than Princeton, Cornell, Brown, or Penn. Or Yale obviously. So while they may have gotten a little lucky to finish top 4 last year, it feels to me like they should be similar to last year.

I just noticed that we don’t play Syracuse this year. Anyone know why? One of the highlights of my life since 1984 was the possibility of a win at the Dome (I have not fared well in this challenge).

I don’t know why but it is a shame. I always love going up there over winter break and trying to be the loudest guy in the dome.

Pretty crazy first half. Shame that Kent State was making its 3s. Of course Kent makes a 3 to close the half. A couple of the new guys look good. Hinton’s shooting has been fantastic tonight so far, which I don’t recall being close to the case in the past. Hopefully they can outscore Kent by 4 in this half!

First D-I game with both teams hitting 18+ threes since at least 2014-15 (that’s as far back as my data goes)
