Cornell/Columbia II

Yale heads to New York for the last traditional Ivy League back-to-back of the season. Both of the Cs will be desperate for a win, and neither of them will be an easy win.

Yale -3.5 tonight in Ithaca feels like a trap. I will be falling for that trap.

The Yale Daily News article this morning indicates (sort of) that Townsend will be back. That would be a big relief if he’s back like his old self.

yea.

2 things as i ride a hs bus to our state champ (2.5 hrs) and think back 30 yrs

1. c/c road trip is hell. i still have nightmares

  1. the tournament keeps the dream alive for most so you drive 5 hrs and go to war.

i do think having cornell first on the u (at 6) is interesting. but i will miss it anyway

I was on the 2016 team, we splurged for the sleeper bus for the overnight for cornell to columbia once we realized what the stakes were the last weekend. Made a horrendous trip more manageable.

I’m nostalgic for the back-to-backs being every weekend. Play is probably better without it and I’m not sure I have any argument for it to come back besides the fact that it used to be that way so I became accustomed to it,.

we used to pass a bottle around after the cornell leg if we won because we were already eliminated anyway:joy:

Cornell hitting 7 3s in the first 11 minutes is not a recipe for Yale success

getting hit by a dozen back cuts isn’t ideal when they’re also making 3s.

‘Still waiting for Townsend appearance’ broadcaster vs Penn

i missed the game because we had to win our ‘ship… but looks like cornell either played defense like hair was on fire or we finished down low like we did at princeton

princeton homers said it was their elite defense

i said then they misunderstood cause and effect

unfortunately i think i was right but reality is we can get bogged down when we mis easy ones

i wouldve thought cornell needed to score a lot more to beat us at home. but says more about us than them like that princeton game

good to see wolf at rhe columbia game!

Simmons and Celiscar have joined a recovered Townsend to lead the Eli’s on both ends. As a group, the guards have regressed and Aletan seems hobbled. The three point shooting has fallen way off - the defenses seem to be crowding at the arc. Yale still seems the best of the Ivies but vulnerable.

As I noted on the Playoff thread, the utter absurdity of the current format really comes home to roost in 2 weeks as Yale, the league champion, has to play the No.4 seed on its own court at 11 am. Yale has clearly been the best overall team, and the format seems almost designed for it to lose.

Fox’s role has become diminished. 12 minutes last night.

hell of a dei reward system ivy league !:joy:!

we dont look efficient but i have some hope losing at cornell on fri will benefit us a bit on the rematch esp if “neutral” refs call the interior tighter

Seems like a freshman wall deal to me. Teams have a good scout on him now and the second time through, the easy points weren’t there. He’s a great player and will adjust, of course.

Of course, this is where the schedule helps. Rematch two weeks later against a team that just beat you? I’ll take it.

yea… hopefully. point i was trying to make.

yale must punish cornell through the paint. as noted by others cornell shot them out initially but giving up 72 points isnt how we lose to them in madness imo assuming we can finish better.

we shall see
