Yale hopes to bounce back from the Princeton loss in these two home games against the Cs. If playing Cornell isn’t enough to get the offense back on track, there may be some bigger issues at play.
Really dislike watching Cornell play basketball.
A shame Mitch Henderson wasn’t around to give them his patented “have the opponents miss open shots” talk.
Defense? Did someone say defense? Certainly not Jon Jacques. But Yale still needed to make the shots and it did that in spades. Fox just has a great touch with the ball at the basket and made some threes too. Townsend looked like his early season version. Aletan impacts the opposition in the paint when he’s on defense but he seems like a liability when Yale has the ball. Curious if Sullivan shouldn’t get more time. When Cornell was on offense, it was hard to follow the ball because they looked chaotic and out of control.
That game was reminiscent of our D3 games. I don’t fault Jacques for playing a unique way - it’s hard to recruit/win games in Ithaca and they lost Okereke a year early but woof.
Samson affects an ivy basketball game in ways i don’t think you understand if you are simply a box score gazer. Ridic take honestly
Best I’ve felt about the Bulldogs in a while. Dominant performance against a team with size.
James: I was at the Cornell game, so not a matter of just looking at the box score. Aletan was having difficulty handling the ball when it got to him and couldn’t hit his free throws. He took extra FT practice at the half and improved. Today against Columbia Aletan was awesome, set up beautifully by his mates.
Yes; I rest my case.
I can imagine going small at times when your big and likely the best pure center in the entire league needs a blow or extreme matchup sits like 5 out…I can’t imagine doing so bc you think a true freshman center who has shown little incremental to aletan besides the ability to hit an open set shot 3 here and there; will do better.
This is so forgetting what the freshman does that is decremental. And, in a game where you are blowing up Cornell sets partly bc of your center
It is absurd. And today proves it
