Danny is headed to Brooklyn. Congratulations on being taken in the first round.
I was surprised he didn’t go higher. Seeing his family so emotional got me a little emotional.
Also, Tosan (for now) is with the Nets so that makes two recent Ivy players on their roster.
Funny article
Great landing spot for getting early playing time. Especially if Claxton gets traded.
good to see JJ interviewed by local if not natl press.
dont believe a former yalie has been picked 1st round since 1949.
it is confusing to all given the era but this should be celebrated.
i dont think you are thrilled when your ex wife marries up bc she moved.
but pardon the flawed analogy this is just a huge accomplishment for all involved.
as an aside as exhibited in denver and beyond wolf’s parent have been nothing but class.
lastly poulakidas picked up by clippers for summer league. will be curious if he can convert to a 2 way over time.
i think he has a reasonable chance.
mbeng to the warriors for summer league
We don’t know what Bez, John or Danny will do at the professional level but their achievements are a testament to the recruiting and coaching skills of Jones and his assistants. Bravo!
john has a + wingspan and good feet.
it is perplexing as to why he didnt contribute more on the boards or d in the IL. he wasnt bad but those are open qs.
he can get his shot off against anyone off the pick and roll.
The question he’ll have to answer at the NBA level is whether or not he can play adequate defense. I hope he can answer that question affirmatively.
was just reflecting…yale lost a first round draft pick the first since armond hill with IL roots in an era where the IL has real issues IMO.
henderson said you musr make danny a guard to defend him. frankly i said this bf he did a d executed it.
danny laid a bagel at princeton and had an uneven finish as defenses adjusted. so this strategy somewhat worked
danny goes to UM and gets paid. dusty may makes him a quasi guard. he initiated the pick and roll at 6’11 more often than not and against better athletes.
he leaves after one year ( his junior year) and gets picked 27th in the nba draft.
keep in mind this is in an era when high level coaches call me abt 13 year olds i work with. wolf did his covid year at basketball factory NMH . he had a committable offer at minnesota
that’s really about it at the power 5 level.
how does yale respond when wolf exits?
townsend became an absolute beast despite being grounded and 6’5 even against a&m
yale lost one league game thats incredible.
perhaps danny should have initiated the pick and roll with townsend and sdsu game might have been different. haha
predictions are tough. call this a scattered, journal entry or just a healthy reminder. who really knows anything?
Excellent stream of consciousness.
I can visualize Poulakidas succeeding or not in the pros. A 6’6" guy who can hit jumpers while guarded closely–really closely–after cutting to the spot, with or without a screen, should be a useful adjunct on most rosters. Can he stay in front of NBA wings? He has the ready and willing part down, not sure of the able.
