While I am optimistic about the year, I’m not about the weekend. Two good teams and we are missing Lewis, Lesbert and Robinson.
The Italians have a saying: Il calcio d’agosto è bugiardo. Football (soccer) in August is deceiving. In other words, the start of a sports season doesn’t tell us all that much.
That’s more or less how I feel about this weekend and, frankly, the month of November, given that it seems Lesburt won’t be back until December. I think they’ll lose a couple games to teams they should beat, but my hope is that leads to them beating some teams they weren’t expected to beat in the new year. Excited to see the young guys play. Excited to have Ivy basketball back in general.
What’s up with all the injuries? Lewis, Lesburt, Rochester, Barron?
I think Barron is out for the year, not sure what the injury is. Based on the interview Mike gave after the scrimmage last week, I think Rochester is the closest to coming back, with Lewis close behind. Lesburt broke his foot late in the summer, so I think he has a longer road ahead of him.
You are correct on all 4, ET. Barron had shoulder surgery in Sept.
Pre-conference games should be a good opportunity to get freshmen lots of minutes, see what we have and maybe find some pieces who can be a favor in Ivy play. Not much to see last night, but bright spots were Uchidiano looking like a scorer, O’Sullivan off the bench. Loughlin and langham got nice minutes. I expect this to be a breakout year for wrisby-Jefferson, who wasn’t much of a factor.
