Women get a great road win at Princeton behind another heroic effort from Page. The women are starting to roll at the right time. Men beat Penn at home in a critical game. Penn guarded Kenny really well and bottled him up, but everyone else outperformed. Blair, Gerard played very well. Our big guys were very tough. Go Lions!
We have a chance to sweep the âKiller Pâsâ weekend in both MBB and WBB ! Cant remember the last time (or if its ever happened ) in Columbia hoops history.
Griffith knows Princeton bball from the inside, is a resourceful strategist, and knows how to motivate her players to function as a team. I donât want to get too far out over my skies, but after 3 wins in a row, she seems to have Princetonâs number.
The Columbia Women led the whole way against Princeton despite playing most of the game without Riley Weiss who was called for a couple of ridiculous touch fouls very early in the game and then three more questionable âfoulsâ somewhat later. Perri Page was terrific and both Mia Broom and Simmons were outstanding off the bench. Megan Grifith is a great coach and motivator.
This may be Coach Gâs best year of coaching. We have seen the team transform before us.
Up till now I always thought Princeton WBB was in our heads and we were somewhat âpsyched outâ when playing them bc of their aura of invincibility. Now Iâm pretty sure weâre in their heads. Hope we beat them 3X this year.
After our first win against Princeton a few years ago ealry in this golden era, our Lions team laden with superstars went down to Philly and lost to a good but inferior Penn the next nite. Hope Coach G has us ready this time.
The poster above questioned whether the CU menâs and womenâs team have ever both swept the same weekend. It mustâve happened. Iâll ask Gemini. Earlier today I had a different thought: Have the Princeton men and women ever been swept on the same weekend? Unlikely that it happened in this century, if ever. Iâll ask Gemini too.
Sheâs a tremendous player, but I think Princeton was beat before St. Rose exited. Also, Columbia was without its #1 scorer for most of the game.
I could be wrong, but the Princeton Coachesâ press conference posted on Ivy Hoops online had me wondering if St Rose was truely hurt or just frustrated. Have a listen. I apologize if Iâm reading too much into it.
The loss to Penn in 2022 followed a Columbia overtime victory against Princeton. Some played close to 45 minutes, and they were absolutely exhausted. But I donât think we are going to run out of gas tonight, since the one secondary gain of Weissâ fouling out is that she only played about 21 minutes, and we are deep enough to cover for Henderson and Page, who played 35 and 37 respectively.
