Getting ready for Harvard

Just to get discussion started, I did a quick review of Harvard on CBB analytics. Offense is easy to analyze; defense less so. I have not seen them play.

Chandler Piggé leads the team in minutes. He is a good rebounder, and scores from the paint and 3 point line. Mostly favors shooting from the right side of the top of the key.

Thomas Batties has almost as many minutes. He seems to be a 3 point specialist; not so much in the paint. Likes the right corner for his 3. Appears to have NBA 3 range.

Robert Hinton scores mostly in the paint, and is an excellent rebounder.

Evan Nelson scores mostly with the 3. Not much in paint.

Tey Barbour and Louis “tout” Lesmond fill out most of the remaining minutes. Barbour a better rebounder and shoots the corner 3. Lesmond shoots 3’s and scores in the paint as well.

Harvard lacks a true big, even more so than Princeton. Keep Hinton from scoring in the paint, and guard the 3 point line for all the others. Hope the 3’s don’t drop.

I would think that Lee, Pierce, Abdullahi, and even Hicke would be able to score inside to take pressure off of our three point shooters.

This team consistently plays up (or down) to its level of competition. This should be a double-digit win since Pierce will be back, but I’m expecting a close game anyway.

I’d love to be wrong and see an easy win for a change.

Harvard beat Bowdoin by 6. I realize they may have had their bench players in, but their D1 games haven’t been impressive.

Should be a walk by Princeton, but as said, this team has this far played to the level of the opposition.

Do we know the status of Caden Pierce’s ankle injury?

He should be good to go:

“We plan on playing him Saturday,” Henderson said. “He had a little bounce in his step today (during the layup line). It was good to see him out there without the boot on.”
