We just got our first commit for 2026: Preston Merrick from the Hotchkiss School. He’s a 6’6" wing with good athleticism who profiles as a 3-and-D type guy. Looks like he he’s strong enough that we could potentially play smallball lineups with him as a 3 or 4, or bigger ones with him as a 2. The kind of versatile piece we need (assuming his shot is good enough).
We just got an absolutely massive commitment: top 125, 4-star point guard Jason Singleton. He had high major offers from Creighton, Xavier, and Ohio State (where his dad played on their 1999 Final Four team). Everyone assumed that family connection meant he was a lock for the Buckeyes, especially since he grew up in Columbus too, but he credited another Columbus native—Seth Towns—with selling him on Harvard. He fills a huge hole for us at point guard, and has good size for the position at 6’4”. Doesn’t hurt that he chose us over Yale as well. (By my count, there are three more guys in the 2026 class we’re going head-to-head with Yale over).
Also seems noteworthy, at least in this day and age, that Singleton seems so sure Hinton will still be on the team when he gets here. That wasn’t the case, for example, when Elzie Harrington took his official visit with us. Back then, he was already saying that he and Malik Mack would form a great backcourt together if Mack was still on the team then, emphasis on the '“if.”
We just added another strong recruit to our 2026 class: Julian Adigun, a 6’11” center. He looks like a pretty good athlete, with a decent shot that goes out to three-point range, although, like most high schoolers, he does need to add some strength. A very good Ivy recruit. Yale had offered him, and Princeton and Brown had lined up visits with him. Given how desperately we’ve needed size the last couple of years, this was a big get (literally).
We were originally going head-to-head with Yale over four recruits. One of them just committed to Furman, but two of them—Singleton and Adigun—have chosen us. Jonas Oware, a 6’8” SF/PF is the only uncommitted one left.
