As they said on the broadcast, that was the best ILT game ever. Penn is having an amazing run and McCaffery pulled off twin miracles considering he doesn’t have Roberts. I always root for the Ivy rep in the NCAAs and this will be no different. TJ Power gonna show Duke and Virginia what they missed out on.
Yale has dominated the Ivy Madness like no other and James Jones is still the best coach in the Ivy. This is the first time he ever lost in the ILT with the more talented team. Bulldogs are still the envy of the Ivy.
Critical with Roberts out, especially because Simmons effectively took Zanoni away for most of the game.
As the guy who said the weakness in Power’s game despite his manifest skill set on offense was his softness when matched up in man-to-man on D and finishing through contact around the rim, I stick by those comments—we even saw those flaws crop up today a bit. But if he’s going to play with the kind of confidence in his shot he’s shown in league play, and cap it with an insane performance like this I’ll happily overlook them! May it continue in the Big Dance.
Something to be said for requiring a delay from registration to the ability to post, to prevent nonsense of the sort that has been showing up today. I agree it is likely some disgruntled bettor. I remember having the 1979 H-Y game ruined by bettors who had bet on Yale with a big spread. It was clear early on that Yale wasn’t going to beat the spread and a group of bettors sitting near us in the end zone were the worst sort of jerks (but there was a limit to what people say when people are watching as distinct from the anonymity of posting).
I trust your opinion on the new bigs. Need one of the fresh + Daniel/Sullivan to step up. Fox really got phased out late, I wonder what impact that has on him leaving or staying. Probably need Braithwaite to take a massive step which he seems capable of.
Give a lot of credit to Simmons who transferred in by sitting out a year and bought in completely.
I kind of hated that
Shooting comes and goes but fox got into lane and I think that matters in sudden death situations
He also never hesitated
Jones must not like his on ball defense which I get
I am a huge bull on brathwaite
He had a tough final but I think the ankle was tweaked and he looked a step slower today
Onward and upward
Wow, what a battle. As a Penn fan I didn’t think we had better than a 10% chance to win today without Roberts. TJ Power proved me wrong in the best kind of way. Yale has been the top of the league for a while and Jones it’s best coach, so this is a heck of a start for Fran McCaffery! Whatever happens next is gravy. Here’s to future battles after McCaffery continues to improve our roster.
Also, you and I have also experienced any number of games in recent years where Penn has serious brain cramps down the stretch to turn a seeming victory into an inexplicable defeat.
