Interesting Todd Golden revelation and some more

I was with him at the NYAC Winged Foot dinner. Good guy. I asked him about his offense and his Ivy experience and he said that a lot, yes a lot of what he now runs comes from the Yale offense which he saw and studied during his tenure at Columbia. Especially how he utilizes 2 bigs together. He was high on Xaivian, but after he took Fland and they both need the ball in their hands, I became confused. Another non-Ivy Power 3 coach told me the goal is to stockpile as much talent as you can because 80% of them will leave after one season.

As to some predictions:

Breakout player: Isaac Celiscar
Surprise team; Harvard
Team that will most challenge Yale: Penn
Team that will compete hard for that last tourney spot: Columbia
Attendance at the women’s tourney final at Cornell in March: 668

Boogie Fland is an elite catch-and-shoot 3pt threat, which means he can thrive as an off-ball scorer. Lee is a poor catch-and-shoot guy but an excellent cutter. So he can play off-ball too.

Also, Golden will surely stagger their minutes to give each a chance to dominate the ball while ensuring at least 1 is on the court at all times.

I’d be more worried about the defensive fit. Fland is even smaller than Lee. Florida’s small army of bigs will be tested and picking up a lot of fouls.
