Normally, I’d skip watching a D3 matchup but this game actually has value for a rebuilding squad like ours. In fact, it’s strange that they only scheduled 1 D3 game in a year where they could really use the practice/W-L padding.
Let’s see Seals and the freshmen play. Let’s see Huggins shoot more 3s.
47-25 at the half. Typical D3 game score but this year it was worth watching
There were a lot of 1-on-1 possessions for our bigs inside. Outside of Happy, it didn’t work out. But hey, you gotta try. I like that Huggins is working on his hook and push shots, but he wasn’t close on any of them. Maybe it’ll click for him later like it did for Kellman in 2023.
Abdullahi is such an exciting player. Alley-oop from Davis and an epic putback dunk. Need to utilize his athleticism more. He can get UP THERE.
100-59. Nice to win a D3 game by an appropriately lopsided score in a rebuilding year. Last year’s squad beat Kean only 92-71… a harbinger of things to come.
Because of the team’s extreme inexperience, this was an important game. The guys were cheering each other on and diving on the floor for loose balls and fighting hard for every rebound. First time I can remember enjoying our annual D3 game(s)!
I’m ready to be whooped by Kansas but I hope Mitch issues them a challenge: be physical as hell and hold them under 90. Lose 84-50, not 110-70.
Liked what I saw out of all 16 players tonight. They played with discipline and purpose regardless of the score.. they didn’t lose their focus. Teams that stick to the game plan and don’t play down to the level of competition are a reflection of great team chemistry and usually strong leadership from the top players. Easy to slip into sloppy… “my turn” type of basketball. Credit to the coaches for getting everyone some time and keeping them focused.

it was pretty obvious from last year that Happy is the team’s sole back-to-the-basket post option, high or low. If they featured him that way in the high post I think the half-court offense could be pretty efficient. He’s pretty good at the handoffs and backdoor passes, plus he can whirl and drive when his man overcommits on the handoff, and he can fade back behind the arc as a credible open three-point shooter.
