MBB vs Yale

They are clearly a better team, but given how the freshman made us stay in the game for a considerable portion of it, can’ t we just play with them for the rest of the season and get them as many minutes as possible thinking about the years to come?

Is Rubio DLR done for the season? Or is there a chance he returns next weekend?

I have no idea, but I guess they are going to try as much as they can for him to be able to play at least for senior day. It would be really sad if he leaves the school out of an injury without playing one last time at Levien

I feel for him and the Lions, especially after such a great non-conf season. An injury to the one player that Columbia could not afford an injury to. Y’all deserved better.

You well know that injuries are part of an imperfect process - and if you don’t know that much, just ask Madison St. Rose.

The news on the boy isn’t encouraging - as far the three game balance of this season is concerned.

What news is that?

You can tell he’s resting/rehabilitating and has a possible future playing professionally overseas - why take any risk with three (meaningless) games, to be played in the next two weeks, remaining on his amateur schedule?

Makes sense. I feel bad for Geronimo. He’s a great kid and has had a nice career on and off the court.

You’re on it, man - he’s terrific and you’re referencing a kid for whom English is basically a second language, who’s now on the cusp of graduating from Columbia College! I have had some limited contact with upperclassmen from the team, including Geronimo; and I don’t offer that to create an appearance of being an insider - I’m clearly not! But nobody’s remotely suggested to me that he’d be playing again this season, though I suppose it’s possible.

Can confirm that Geronimo will not play this coming weekend. Regardless of the games being meaningless, he is not healthy enough to play.

Yes. You probably witnessed the moment he went down and your immediate sense was that he wouldn’t be back, anytime soon.

Well, you may be cursed as you so claim, but the Dominican Dandy with the heart of a (Columbia) Lions gifted us with his on-court presence last night; making for a clear and comforting silver lining within the overall tapestry of gloom currently enveloping the men’s basketball program and, for that matter, the entire University. Playing last night may not have been the most prudent decision Nimo’s made in his young life; though, in making it, he’s expressing his love of the game, the joy he feels in playing it, and how he feels about YOU and all those he’s engaged with during the New York City portion of his life’s journey. Now, your information sources may not be the best; however, you may not be so cursed; in fact, you ought to be :smiling_face_with_tear: proud.
