Columbia up at halftime 46-29, again shooting flawlessly from beyond the arc 7-13 (54%). Really good team effort, continuing the tendency from recent games. Bedri is still out and Brown hasn’t played yet, but the team looks the same. Quite impressed with the defensive effort of Nweke, who came back last game against Longwood after what looked like an elbow injury.
This one was a blowout just about from the opening tip. Very impressive team performance. Will be interesting to see them play teams more at their level to see how they do.
Truly impressive game. Offensive clinic. Most points against a D1 team since Nov 2010. Again perfect games from Noland and Thompson. Franklin was also impressive tonight, and at this point I think we have to start talking about one of the main Ivy FOY candidates.
At this point is clear that we are a significantly better than most teams below #200. After a D3, we play Hofstra at home, which should be a similar level but probably the best team we have faced so far. The real test though should be the Dec 21st game at Cal. Probably the team closer to Yale’s level we will face this season.
Remarkable blow out 106-77 victory over a solid Fairfield team. Wow! This Columbia team is a pleasure to watch and will be even stronger once Bedri and Brown return to action. The chemistry among the players is amazing.
I’ve been very pleased with the teams toughness. They play hard, physical defense and really rebound well. Very tough around the basket and don’t give up anything. Ritter, Soulis, Igoe, Bedri and Nweke are a formidable group up front. Blair also rebounds and defends very well. We certainly won’t shoot 60% often, but the gritty rebounding and defense is becoming a strong characteristic of this team. Late in the game a kid from Fairfield went hard to the rim and tried to dunk. Franklin challenged him, prevented the basket and committed a hard foul and the bench erupted. Playing hard like that every play and taking pride in the defense is a really good sign.
I actually thought that that was a very reckless and dangerous play especially with it being late in extended garbage time. Was surprised that a technical was not assessed there.
