yea.
i have known camron fletcher since he was a kentucky recruit. 6 yrs later he is still on high points roster and i know he played for FSU for a time. etc etc.
there was a good article on high point in the wsj.com some time ago. school is like a high end resort. they invest in hoops to create a cultural identity (my comment) for the school it appears.
I saw this was 7th year of eligibility, started during covid and then some awful injuries. Hope he gets paid well and gets a degree, no way his body holds up for much more ball after this. Just turned 24 and wouldnt have been eligible under new rules if they go into effect. Our returning fifth year, Michael Zannoni turns 24 right at start of ivy season.

Zanoni turned 23 in May of this year, so will be 23 for the entire season / school year. Common for a 5th year. I do think one unintended consequence of the 5 and 5 with the age limit, you will uniformly see the Ivies tend to be 22 and younger, possibly graduating in 3 for the guys with stats. Then guys definitely seeking that 5th year elsewhere, 4th and 5th for those graduating in 3.
Another lesson to be drawn from the transfer/NIL situation is that mid-majors who want to punch above their weight ought to pursue contrarian, asymmetrical tactical approaches. Have different fundamentals, exploit different player attributes, take away opponent familiarity with schemes, etc. That would help both in retaining players (rivals would be less interested) and in generating winning chances when finally allowed to play against them in a tournament setting.
Ivy League transfer activity to date is far different from what’s being portrayed here. It’s not all gloom and doom. I think the league only had 11 undergraduates enter the portal in 2026. Celiscar is the only big loss.
What about Thomas and Amundsen from Dartmouth and Aletan from Yale.
Aletan graduated.

This is a wild take. It is largely doom and gloom, with many kids desirous of the Ivy education for 2 years and access to the alumni network and then grabbing the $$$. It will be the rule and not the exception, with Hinton and Fox being exceptions.
agree. the ludicrous take is not doing a power law type analysis.
for example take yale. 1 celiscar is worth i dont know 5 recruiting takes with ok expected values maybe 7. and this is a 4 yr yield type analysis. even worse when you lose a poy bf he achieves that. so rare. conversely it takes the replacement optionality time to bear fruit on that level.

ok fair point relatively good for their prospects intraleague but there is still a reason they werent hyp (in prior years) in the ncaa tourney last year bc they are still relatively screwed
and they take transfers so that helps them but not enough relative to big boys
the good news is if you enjoy watching young talent develop the IL looks rich to me based on a summer watching potential freshmen in 2026 and even 2027
i am hoping this keeps me interested besides my relationships
but it is certainly a gut punch when you find develop and lose top talents as they break out
i predicted d3 a few yrs ago. the talent pipeline and collective will so far precludes it but the bifurcation in d1 makes it effectively true unless you pull a high point
gap is widening. be realistic
I mean, of Penn’s two tremendous All Ivy players, one was injured (did not play) and the other should have been in a hospital bed from what we now know (and could barely play). And it was still just a 10 point game at the half despite being woefully short handed.
