Penn

Where are Landon Lewis and Brady Loughlin?

The Penn commentators said that Landon wouldn’t be available today at the top of the broadcast. I believe I saw him on the bench in street clothes. As for Loughlin, by my count, this is the third straight game that he has missed. I am not sure what is going with him, but he is still listed on the Brown roster and still has Brown in all of his bios on social media.

It’s hard watching this team year after year. Key players leaving or shutting it down for the season; constant lineup shuffling; perennial slow starts in Ivy play; mistakes and missed free throws down the stretch; outplayed in the second half, etc. There is a lot of parity in the league and the team has a lot of heart, but we don’t even know who’s playing from game to game at this point.

Competed well all game. Glad to see offense working. Rochester with a true bonehead foul on the perimeter of their best player had me screaming at the TV and then our two best FT shooters missing with the pressure on loses a game they’d worked hard to stay in. Lots to like but the youth showed at the end.

Hard to win without our leader and best player. Lewis was on the bench (no visible braces on limbs or anything) but was wearing glasses and moving slowly. We had no seniors on the floor for the entire game – that hurts.

There was a pair of very strange statistics. Brown outscored Penn in the paint 44-26, but Brown had more personal fouls than Penn – 23-14. The result was the biggest difference in the game – Penn outscoring Brown from the foul line – Brown was 8 for 12 while Penn was 22-29.

I am sure PennNation believes the refs were working against Penn.

He ALWAYS does.

Life is too short to worry about such things!

JJ is turning into a top point guard in this league. You see why he was hyped. He has to finish better at the rim, but between his skill and court vision and the relative lack of ball handlers, the ball is in his hands a lot and he does a lot of good things. And he’s pesky on defense. I have been very impressed with him. The offense still has a ways to go but his improvement in running it stands out.

AU is the most dangerous weapon off the bench in this league. Something about being able to change the pace by not having him start, and he consistently plays top minutes. Yesterday he was instant O in the first half.

Langham is struggling and trying to figure it out. It seems like his mental game (and maybe intensity?) has not caught up to his physical. I wouldn’t have had him on the court at the end when you need your coolest heads, although I do get wanting his FT shooting (which didn’t work out yesterday). Was happy to see him take and hit that three, and that only three of his shots yesterday were from three. Gotta get him going downhill and to the rim more (and the line!)

If Dalen Davis keeps coming off the bench, he gets the “mast dangerous weapon” award.

Rilet Foxx is also no slouch.
