Pennsylvania

How did those last tries not go in? Blake, Caden, Malik… Refs not calling anything at the rim for anyone.

Still, I’m happy with the effort and 7pt halftime lead on the road. Definitely a different team than the ones that played soft early and had to play catch-up.

Without Roberts, Penn is trying to win this with defense and they’ve done a good job taking advantage of laissez-faire Ivy refs. The downside is that they’ve missed plenty of open shots themselves, which happens when you play your tail off on defense.

Hope we can do what Yale did and pull away midway through the 2nd half.

Penn is really not good. Tigers should pull away in the second half if they can just focus. Tigers need to realize that the refs are not calling anything and respond accordingly.

He’s 2 for 10 and 0 for 5 3’s. Peters only shot 2 Only a few guys playing D. Scott and Davis are no help beyond

Beyond bad. Painful

Broadcast that is

Lee got hit in the mouth twice. Neither one was worthy of a whistle according to these refs.

This is why I laugh at the notion that NBA defense will be too much for Xaivian. Defensive 3-seconds + NBA refs? He’ll be a kid in a candy store.

Xaivian looks really tentative and the results are not pretty. 2/10 from the field, 0/5 from 3, and only 4 points in the first half.

“Our mics are hot during breaks on ESPN+. I don’t know if we said anything bad.”
“We just have to know about that.”
“Seriously.”

Freshman Happy outplaying senior Spinoso so far. He even managed to hit a telegraphed backdoor pass to Pierce, who hit two FTs.

Tigers flopping after going up double digits is as predictable as day following night. So frustrating!

Happy a real bright spot tonight, though.

As soon as they go up by 10, they start chucking 3s.

The Smith trey for Penn was off no D from PU–just a missed assignment. The Brown three at least was contested and pretty far out. And not great offensive possessions on the other side, so the lead is down to three when it should be growing.

Hicke got fouled about four times and the Quakers are crying about the call. Give me a break

At least the refs are finally calling some of these. Gotta keep going inside. Then kick out if they double.

Peters! Block, recovery, layup.

Dalen hits a big 3 then makes an awful TO. He’s gotta shoot that midrange J.

Whenever we get any momentum, a bad TO or ill-advised 3 happens.

All season Pierce has been looking a bit short on layups and close-in shots, like he can’t quite get the lift or force behind them. I’m really thinking he’s been playing with back problems.

Yup. That turnover by Dalen was just awful. He’s lost his confidence.

Lee and Happy follow with equally awful TOs.

And now it’s tied. This is just shameful.

The reverse pivot trey by Brown was pretty good stuff. But all the PU turnovers are the cause of the problem here.
