Whew. Did not deserve to win that one. Wow!
Had it all alongâŚ
Our final possession summed up the game.
Ugly and dumb and infuriating. But they won.
They led 95% of the game! Must have been an easy one.
Ugly.
Woof. Iâm just so glad I didnât drive down to the Palestra for this one.
I allow that this game is not like other Pennâs other games.
- Theyâve lost 11 (now 12) in a row to us.
- Theyâre fighting for their ILT lives.
- Donahue is already on a scorching hot seat.
But without Evan Roberts, this game should have been an easy 20+ win. They led 11-0 to start the game.
The turnovers and bad contested 3s when they led by 6-11 in the 2nd half were truly horrendous.
It was a Hotel California winâthey stab it with their steely knives, but they just canât kill the beast.
How did Xâs turnover end up in Hickeâs hands? That was a magicianâs trick.
I just watched the replay. Lee tipped it to Hicke. Great hustle play despite his ugly near-TO (probably a foul but he should know how Ivy refs are).
As bad as he shot today, Lee did some Allocco-esque things that saved the game. I liked seeing that. He also made his FTs, which has been missing since late last season.
We know by know this roster has talent but they struggle as a team. Regardless of Mitchâs apparently aspirational statements, they have not turned a corner and IMO will not this season. They may have some pleasant surprises to come, but we should not expect too much.
Xavier is a nice - and sometimes dominant in our pool - player, but I am not seeing an NBA path.
This team canât stop playing up or down to its level of competition. I truly believe they can pull off another NCAA upset (or two), but I donât think they can get there. Can you imagine THIS team beating Cornell AND Yale in back-to-back days?
That said, itâs not all bluster from Mitch. They did indeed start strong again. And they held a rested, if short-handed Penn team to under 60 points.
I just donât understand where these TOs are coming from! These arenât miscommunications. Or overzealous backdoor attempts. Theyâre just sloppy, overly casual, pickup game mistakes.
It is frustrating when we can see them coming on the screen but the players on the court donât.
There was certainly a lot of shouting at the TV today.
I canât believe this is the same team that beat Rutgers and St. Joeâs. Xaivian and Caden looked like superstars in those games and the entire team was âlocked in.â
Today, it was a clown show apart from CJ Happyâs first half and the rebounding effort - a problem that admittedly has been solved after early season struggles.
We havenât had that spirit here since 1969.
Go back to this same time 2024 season. Lee was MIA. Henderson made some interesting comments about him recently at a presser. Focus on the entire team and what it takes to winânot just 1 individual
what interesting comments?
