Appreciate the clarification. That would have been a pretty wild thing for him to do. Not to mention Lee and Pierce would have left after last season if a big NIL payday could change their minds.

Bizarre. If true, is this a case of the assistants shopping the players to come along with them to a different school? Or is it more of a Jerome Allen deal where they would be speaking a cut of the NIL money or some other benefit while remaining at Princeton? One could see how there would be two sides to the former. If Mac is interviewing for head coaching gigs, you can see how a school might be curious if players would follow him. You shouldnā€™t have an express conversation about it, but you can see how a conversation could lead to an impression he was saying he could bring those guys along. I guess there could be two sides to the latter as well (and less nefarious interpretations than what I suggest), but if youā€™re going to help your player get an NIL deal elsewhere, youā€™d better be on the same page as your head coach.

There is only one Princeton fan on here who seems to want Mitch gone. The rest of us continue to sing his praises. Are we pissed off that we missed the Madness two years in a row? Certainly. We expect excellence. But there are no drumbeats to drop Mitch.

Iā€™m guessing thatā€™s how the confusion got started. A school interviewing MacConnell understandably asks about Lee and Pierce and if they could be pried away with NIL money. That got misconstrued as shopping them around as part of a package deal (ā€œHire me and Iā€™ll convince them to come along.ā€).

Iā€™m a Mitch fan, too. While I donā€™t understand the dynamics behind the departure of his assistants, it seems to me that this wouldnā€™t be happening if Mitch were planning to move on, as has been occasionally rumored.

I kinda miss having former Princeton players or players from the extended coaching tree as assistants, although we donā€™t play that way any more. Checking out the ones I remember Scott Greenman is at UTChattanooga under Dan Earl, Mike Brennan at Cornell, Kyle Koncz is a high school dean. Hereā€™s irresponsible speculation on the junior position - Matt Allocco!

Glad to hear there wasnā€™t the sort of hanky-panky implied by Big P yesterdayā€¦but then this makes this more of a head-scratcher.

Is there a failure to develop the freshmen, or a failure to land a prospect, or a difference in philosophy that we can point to as a reason to part ways with Brett? The margin by which the team fell short in a couple of the games (setting aside the Ithaca and New Haven debacles) seems less to me than what they lost due to Cadenā€™s nagging injury.
