Another gutsy comeback win for the women last night over previously unbeaten Seton Hall. With the help of this win, the Tigers took over the #1 ranking in the latest mid-major poll this week.
It was gutsy. But too much relying on 4Q comebacks is living on the edge.
Looks like Skye Belker has really stepped up her game, bad news for the rest of the league
Her jump shot is a thing of beauty.
Just to clarify, the College Insider Mid-Major poll came out on Tuesday afternoon, before the Seton Hall game, so it did not factor into the #1 ranking. The AP poll, which also came out on Tuesday, has them tied for #30 with Oregon, and they’re #32 in the NET rating, which dropped on Wednesday. If they handle Belmont, ranked #21 in the Mid-Major poll, after the Seton Hall win, they should move up closer to the Top 25. As for the game, I was glad to see Taylor Charles sink the two free throws to ice it at the end.
You are correct. I realized my mistake right after I posted it. I too, was happy to see Charles make those two free throws at the end and felt she should have played more in the second half. Tigers more or less won the game at the foul line going 15-16 while Seton Hall was 13-21.
Princeton women are back in the AP Top 25.
What a charmed season - I can’t remember a Princeton team winning from down seven with 25 seconds left.
I still can’t believe that game!!
With 26 sec. left, win probability for George Mason was 99.9%.
All they had to do was NOT FOUL.
Instead, a flagrant foul, fouled the three point shooter, and fouled the last shot by Princeton. Amazing.
Not to take anything away from Ashley Chea’s last shot.
Only made 4 three-pointers.
Can they score inside like this against bigger teams?
Also, Lessig did not look too happy on the bench, unless I read her facial expression incorrectly.
My only concerns are size, and basically an 8 person team. Neither first year getting much time.
wish we still had Amanze.
Yes, that was a bitter pill. Amanze’s playing time and production at UVA are probably comparable to what they would have been at Princeton and the Tigers, at least so far, are playing at a higher level than the Cavs. NIL $ no doubt were also a factor in her decision to transfer but Tabby would have been a key player on this year’s team!
I was following gamecast, not watching, but I believe she was put in the game with 1 second left in 1Q and then immediately committed a turnover. So perhaps she was unhappy with her play.
Maybe we were just witnessing post-exam weariness, but I don’t see how Tigers can sustain winning like this. They have to start getting more help from the bench.
Lessig was put in at the end of the first quarter to use her baseball/flag football skills to throw a full-court-length pass. It was intercepted. With 1 second left in the 2Q, Carla tried to substitute her again for the same thing, but she wasn’t able to check in before the refs handed Charles the ball to inbound. It seems to me Fadima Tall is still dealing with some lingering injury. She didn’t play a lot down the stretch but had to go in when St. Rose fouled out in overtime. George Mason was really ready to play and their tough defense certainly played a large part in the Tigers’ 23 turnovers.
I’m guessing that she had/has the flu.
I did not get to watch overtime as I had yet another granddaughter soccer game to watch, but I was aware we won.
Nice play at the end to get Chea a good look.
But she didn’t call “bank”. ![]()
It was a carbon copy of her game winner vs harvard last year. Bank shot, notwithstanding!
In the post-game interview, Berube laughed and said the bank was not planned, and laughed.
