Princeton @ Yale

Yale -14.5

Revenge game

With the exception of Malik, who looks like a one-man highlight reel, the Tigers are just plain overmatched today. More boneheaded turnovers are not helping.

Spoke too soon. Tigers start hitting and pull within 3 with three to play.

Ye of little faith.

Shame on me! Lead down to two at the half. I’ll take it! Go Tigers!

Bad start to the second half as Yale scores 6 quick points and Mitch calls a time out to try to stop the bleeding.

Good timeout. Refocus.

Yale is smothering us on defense.

Total physical mismatch. Princeton must bring in size. They are dominated inside every game, including Brown

Size and ball handlers. The turnovers are unconscionable.

At times they look like they have never played together.

To me Davis had a brutal year

Womp, womp. Forgettable end to a forgettable season: 9-20 (5-9). With Stanton out and the team looking deflated for weeks, a Yale rout on their Senior Day was to be expected. Not really upset by the loss today.

There are plenty of legit excuses this season, but I would feel a lot better if I saw more improvement in areas like unforced turnovers. I know they’re young but they should be making fewer mistakes as the season goes on. Also, Mitch’s teams always have inconsistent defensive efforts, which should never happen.

Yale is so lucky to have James Jones. By far the best coach in the Ivy and he will always give Yale a chance to go dancing, even when he doesn’t have the best players. Bulldogs have the bad luck of playing the #4 seed in a true road game, but their program is the envy of the Ivy.

On the bright side, the Princeton women are outright Ivy champs after Harvard takes down Columbia on the road.

Well Dalen only had 2 turnovers today after committing 14 over the last three games.

Now that Penn has aggressively recruited transfers and made the Ivy tournament, would Princeton ever do the same? The Ivy League needs uniform policies on NIL and the transfer portal. If Princeton does not adapt to the current landscape, it will hard for them to be competitive in the league going forward.

It’s hard for me to dial back the intensity of my criticisms, so I’m at least trying to dial back the frequency of my criticisms.

Sports is usually my chief respite from the world, but given what’s going on in the world and the current state of the MBB program, my mood has not improved very much

Even if they recruit size, freshman contribution is unlikely. They will need to compete next year with what they have now, assuming no one exits.
