Princeton

The Bulldogs have a matinee at Jadwin today. I wasn’t expecting things to go quite this sideways for Princeton after Lee and Pierce left, but I’m sure with Davis getting healthy, they’ll make a resurgence.

I don’t expect Davis to have as much success around the hoop or with mid-range jump shots against Yale. And his 3-point shooting runs hot/cold. But we can hope.

Townsend and Fox. Oy.

we need Abdulahi to play big. He seems to be stepping up, but this is admittedly a big ask.

Deserved loss. Absolutely nothing doing on offense, they let Princeton (whose gameplan was clearly to be super physical in the post) out-effort them, and there were just too many wasted possessions. Hopefully, this will be a much needed wakeup call.

Frustrating loss but outside of potential seeding in the NCAA tournament, no huge damage done. Shots that have been falling were not falling tonight. Princeton was impressive making big shots whenever we cut the lead late in the 2nd half.

3 point mean reversion is a b—-.

lot of problems. very bad loss to that team. very bad

celiscar came back it appears. that is the only positive i see😂

the idea that yale was invincible was also hilarious. here we are

I don’t think anyone thought Yale was invincible. No team that makes hay on shooting is invincible. (For that matter, no team that can’t play defense is invincible either, but I thought the D was better today.)

Despite my constant screeching of “Just wait till Dalen gets back!” I did not see THAT coming.

Yale is still the favorite obviously, but if we can make it to Ivy Madness, I think an upset is possible after all.

it is hard to beat my high school team shooting like that when they pack it in😂

when i watched i saw some effort but o bleeds to d too eventually

princeton too away movement, was physical in paint and yale cldnt throw it in the ocean.

i was impressed with princeton’s hands on d but that comes with tight interior spacing and no fear of outside shooting

One of Mitch Henderson’s best coaching efforts of his career. He bet heavy on packing in the defense and it worked. And whatever he’s telling the guys at halftime is working. Tigers outscored Yale and Penn in the second half by combined 108-82.

Well, if he can tell his guys “have Yale’s shooters miss wide-open threes” twice more, I like Princeton’s chances.

Regarding Aletan’s foul shooting, since you have played and coached: do the coaches make no effort to reconstruct a player’s technique?

Aletan came into the game a 72% FT shooter. His form looks bad but it’s been working for him this season (until today).

Abdullahi’s form also looks funky but again, it’s been working for him this season (72%).

As mentioned, Abdullahi is left handed but shoots his foul shots right-handed, so I think he is bringing the ball over to in front of his dominant eye.

samson has improved his rotation on the ball over time which is a positive i hope

Backspin is paramount according to at least one good shooter.

Wow.nice find!
