Just watched Rutgers eke out a win over Seton Hall by three. Harper and Baily had 45 of the teams 66 points. Both are terrific players but made a number of freshmen mistakes and had real trouble at the FT line down the stretch. Both stars missed 2 FTs in the last 30 seconds allowing SH to close a 4 point deficit to tie the game before Harper hit a big 3 at the buzzer for the win. Rutgers made only 13 of 28 Free Throws (Baily was 1/8 from the line). Let’s hope that Rutgers’ FT woes continue next Saturday.
Even with the missed FTs, Harper was so clutch. I’ve never seen such mental toughness and polished skills from a freshman PG. I don’t know if he’s athletic enough to be an NBA superstar, but I love the way he plays. Him and Lee matching up should be a delight.
We got a great shot to win if Pierce plays like Pierce again. If not… abandon all hope. I hope the 10 days off recharges Caden’s batteries.
We have had a much needed break so hoping that Pierce heals up before this next one.
I’ve seen a couple of Rutgers games. Harper is an excellent PG that they totally depend on. Bailey is freakishly talented but a bit inconsistent from possession to possession.

Press about game.
Fun to see buzz around program.
Rutgers has talent and size, but
we have a puncher’s chance.
Both teams have a lot in common:
- Sky-high preseason expectations.
- Disappointing but not disastrous non-conf record.
- Two elite players but not a well-rounded team (yet).
I feel like our guys will get up for this game and lose a close one. I’m confident Lee will be Lee… I just hope Pierce can have a bounce-back game.

Pierce looking like his old bouncy self in early going
Looks great today. Dunked in Harper’s face too.
Rutgers making some tough shots. Byriel 3s not falling. But pretty happy with the effort so far.
Lee yet to score but he’s making some phenomenal dimes.
Scott getting minutes for the first time in a while - a few words with Ace Bailey on that rebound/jumpball.
Lee heating up! If only we could hit half our FTs.
Exciting first half - just missed too many FTs and 3s. Only down 2 after Martini FTs, haha.
Still feels like a close loss, but I’m happy with the effort on both ends (Harper is just too good).
It’s great to see Pierce looking like himself again. He’s a menace on the offensive boards again.
the headline is Pierce is back, but please
make a free throw or two this half.
FTs are the difference in the game: 1-7 vs. 14-17. Oof.
3s not falling either. Just hope Lee and Pierce stay aggressive.
We’re getting every loose ball or fluky rebound in a way that we were last year but weren’t earlier this year. Maybe related to Pierce being more himself.
Great game. Open 3s and FTs just aren’t falling.
Some of that is to be expected playing against a very athletic opponent (tired legs). But this is just flukey bad.
10-day layoff may be responsible.
Also, yet another game where the opponent is getting most of the 50/50 calls.
Will it ever end? Maybe in Ivy play, I hope.
Pierce IS back baby!
It happened. Martini with a big 3 against us.
Clinging to a 3pt lead for now though…
whatever the outcome this is one of the most fun games in recent eyars
