Saw some of you there, thoughts? Breat to see ethan on court and lighting it up. Has only been back on court for 10 days after slow recovery from last season’s shoulder issues. Lucas can flat out play. Tj Power has elbow injury and dnp. Ryan Altman in a boot. Boy we are big!
I write this subject to the potential of the guys who did not play in the scrimmage, but the play of the bigs I saw on Saturday would not come close to staying with what we will have to deal with against Yale, in particular. I pray that we get our new guys ready to play come November.
Are they slow? Stiff?
Only Lueth looked like a player.
By the way, the old Board is back up and working!
The bigs attempted to post up but couldn’t finish. They go their shots off but no scores. There were also no obvious rejections.
Same guys as last year. Gerhart’s footwork looked a little better, but he couldn’t finish. He and Oberti largely neutralized each other, for better or for worse. Walter was surprisingly intense for a scrimmage. He was pushing and grabbing on screens, and even appeared to be yelling at his red teammates at one point. Foster was extremely quiet. Hardly touched the ball.
Agreed that Yale’s frontcourt will be a problem. Should be a problem for everyone. While Yale should be a prohibitive favorite, after that it really could be anyone in 2nd place. Seems the most wide open I can recall.
TBH, no surprise that Walter was intense. He may be on the margin of this roster if Power comes back. Foster had me scratching my head. I was impressed with his potential last year and he was a complete non-factor at the scrimmage.
I think Walter is ahead of the five guys who came off the bench, so I don’t think he’s all that close to the margin as of now. He’d likely even be in the rotation if the season started today, assuming they go 10 deep.
Trying not to read to much into the scrimmage here - Maybe you can refresh my memory - I can only think of 1 front court player who came off the Red bench. The aforementioned Foster, who ended up ahead of Walter last year as I recall. Assuming they go 10-11 deep, and not counting the guys who did not dress, you have 15 guys competing for those spots (barring additional injuries of course.) Of the 5, I think may be on the rotation bubble now, 3 are front court players.
Polonowski came off the red bench, shot 1-5 overall, 1-4 from 3 with 1 rebound 1 TO and 1 block
He was gassed trying to guard Roberts.
No, Polonowski started. Red starters were: Oberti, Walter, Polonowski, Zanoni, and Williams. Bench was Foster and Massung.
The 5 guys who came off the bench in the scrimmage were Massung and Foster for Red and Jones, Kruse, and Kamin for White. Massung and Jones were first off the bench.
Anyone have an update on TJ Power?
