Soo...Is Jim Engles coming back?

Anybody have any insight on this? I truly cannot fathom the idea that he’ll coach again next season. But I also cannot fathom how he made it to this year.

His supposedly great junior class has some of the least productive/disciplined players. Worst three-point defense in the country. Completely uncompetitive. Nice guy, though. Is that going to outweigh all of the horrendous basketball?

Look at Meg Griffith. Look at what can be done at Columbia with a true program builder. This needs to end. Will it?

Discourse/Rumblings/Sources(?) on Twitter (I know how ridiculous this sounds) are saying he’s out. I’d be shocked if he was back.

It’s unfortunate that another man’s termination should matter to you to such a degree; but it appears now you’ll be able to rest more comfortably and perhaps derive the positive energy you surely need to move forward in life. Enjoy.

You have to be the most annoying person on this forum. Constantly getting into arguments with people. Yes, I’d like Jim Engles gone because I want Columbia basketball to win. Jim will be fine, it’s nothing personal.

So, so Sad.

Just saw that Jim stepped down, I wish him good luck on his next adventure.

Let the speculation begin… who are the candidates? In no particular order, here are a few:

Kevin Hovde?.. Assistant Coach at Florida… was on Kyle Smith’s staff at Columbia from 2012 to 2016.

Dave Klatsky?.. Head Coach at NYU, played under Fran Dunphy at Penn.

Carlin Hartman?.. Associate Head Coach at Florida… also on Kyle Smith’s staff a decade ago.

Dalen Cuff?.. College Basketball Analyst at ESPN, played under Joe Jones at Columbia.

Cuff has no interest (according to his own tweets)

And he wasn’t interviewed after Kyle Smith left, either.

Yeah, I just saw Cuff’s Tweet… seems to have zero interest.
