Temple (ESPN Events Invitational)

Another game on Tuesday @ 7:30PM EST.

The Bradley loss was somehow much better and much worse than expected due to the Jekyll and Hyde 1st and 2nd halves. Not much time to go over tape, but it’s clear what their issues were. TAKE CARE OF THE BALL. Take a bad shot over a bad turnover that leads to an easy layup/dunk. Who knows? Your bad shot might go in or get FTs.

Weirdly enough, we face Temple again on 12/22. :man_shrugging:

EDIT: Game time corrected.

7:30 start time vs Temple

Oops, you’re right. I assumed the winners would get the primetime slot.

“TAKE CARE OF THE BALL” is absolutely right. We cannot go into games where we are the underdog and give away possessions like we have been all year. Bradley outscored us 19-3 on pts off turnovers last night, and had 13 fast break points to our 0. We need to limit turnovers and get the ball moving in transition more. We are a small team, but what’s the point if we can’t beat teams down the floor? Looking for a bounce-back game tonight, but I’m prepared for more of the same, especially in Davis’s absence. Also, it seems like we do a good job of moving the ball in the half-court until we have a few bad possessions and immediately go into dribble isolation mode… let’s get rid of that entirely.

Good start for the Tigers. Moving the ball well and playing reasonably good D. Happy has his touch back from outside. Up 17-9.

Guys are looking pretty comfortable with on-ball defense tonight. And when they’ve been able to post up or iso on offense, also not too bad, although the flow of the offense has been decent too.

Hicke playing confidently for the first time all season. Good to see.

Hicke going backdoor and being covered but then spinning to seal under the basket for the post score has worked like three times already.

McSweeney is NOT ready for primetime. Automatic TO and pick-six layup when he handles it.

First bad turnover. Freshman gets his pocket picked. Pick - 6 jam for Temple.

Let Temple close the gap some, but the offense still looks pretty good, with some better finishing stopping the run. Huggins looking good again too. Some tough foul calls against the Tigers not helping though.

Whitfield and McSweeney are killing us. They need to realize it’s not high school anymore. So sloppy and out of control.

Another scoring drought with multiple turnovers but Tigers still up 4. Gotta hold on and not let Temple score a bunch at the end of the half the way Bradley did.

Not sure why Seals is in Mitch’s doghouse. He was very mistake-free as a freshman - it’s what I liked most about him.

We could really use a player who doesn’t turn it over every other time he touches the ball.

Whitfield has given some good along with the bad. Trying to develop the freshmen, I’m sure. But they need to stop giving up one-on-one steals.

These freshman just try to straight-line drive their way past their defender over and over again. And they lose their nerve in the paint and throw a bad pass instead of shooting it.

I hate that. Overconfidence followed by zero confidence.

Yep. Good description. It’s a learning process.

Fouls really piling up for both teams.

Temple 9-16 from the FT line. Perhaps compensates for all the open treys the Tigers have missed.

Yeah, I feel like Mitch has our guys playing too tight, too cautious.

Let them have some fun in non-conf. W-L doesn’t matter this season, just progress.
