The Bradley loss was somehow much better and much worse than expected due to the Jekyll and Hyde 1st and 2nd halves. Not much time to go over tape, but it’s clear what their issues were. TAKE CARE OF THE BALL. Take a bad shot over a bad turnover that leads to an easy layup/dunk. Who knows? Your bad shot might go in or get FTs.
“TAKE CARE OF THE BALL” is absolutely right. We cannot go into games where we are the underdog and give away possessions like we have been all year. Bradley outscored us 19-3 on pts off turnovers last night, and had 13 fast break points to our 0. We need to limit turnovers and get the ball moving in transition more. We are a small team, but what’s the point if we can’t beat teams down the floor? Looking for a bounce-back game tonight, but I’m prepared for more of the same, especially in Davis’s absence. Also, it seems like we do a good job of moving the ball in the half-court until we have a few bad possessions and immediately go into dribble isolation mode… let’s get rid of that entirely.
Guys are looking pretty comfortable with on-ball defense tonight. And when they’ve been able to post up or iso on offense, also not too bad, although the flow of the offense has been decent too.
Let Temple close the gap some, but the offense still looks pretty good, with some better finishing stopping the run. Huggins looking good again too. Some tough foul calls against the Tigers not helping though.
Another scoring drought with multiple turnovers but Tigers still up 4. Gotta hold on and not let Temple score a bunch at the end of the half the way Bradley did.
These freshman just try to straight-line drive their way past their defender over and over again. And they lose their nerve in the paint and throw a bad pass instead of shooting it.
I hate that. Overconfidence followed by zero confidence.
