So much better than what they had been wearing. Even the shade of red is better.
I am thrilled to seen the return of the “PENNSYLVANIA” branding. The change should never have been made.
Easily worth 2-3 wins right there. Never liked the PENN change.
Please lose the big head Quaker and go back to the old quaker
I took my 3 yo granddaughter to the Penn FB game sat. She was adament when she saw the cartoon mascot that “thats not Ben Franklin” and refused to go near it. Her alumni father was history major and she has a lot of books on the founding fathers with multiple visits to Independence Hall etc. And of course pictures on the bench with Ben on campus
Ben Franklin was not a Quaker. This is a Quaker mascot. Not Ben Franklin. But yeah, it’s been lame ever since they donned the mascot costume as opposed to just having an outgoing kid cosplay as a Quaker.
That being said, as a long time Penn football pessimist, I am pretty optimistic about the team after watching both the Princeton-Columbia game on ESPNU Friday and attending the Penn-Dartmouth game Saturday. Although Penn has a history of blowing winnable games under this coach, I think we have the 2nd best team overall in the league and play Harvard at home this year. With an FCS playoff bid on the line finally, it may actually be interesting to watch Ivy football.
Buried deep in the inner recesses of the Penn Athletics website, it’s possible to download a historical list of uniform numbers and the names of players who wore them. As best I can tell, #18 was only worn during the 1955-56 season by Tommy Smith, and in the 1956-57 season by Allen Schwait.
Lets hope the team does well for Ray’s sake. Probably going to take the team being in the hunt through final weekend to get him a new contract
