We are a much better team with Lewis and Rochester than we were in the first 5 games. Our front line should match up with anyone in the League. Outside shooting has been inconsistent, defense is our strength.

I agree – the defense is tenacious, and the team plays very hard. Frankly, I’m amazed that there aren’t more injuries given the style of play. The key will be keeping turnovers down and trying to find consistency on offense, which can disappear for agonizingly long stretches. On the other hand, several players have shown excellent shooting skills at times, and David Rochester and Landon Lewis should only improve after their lengthy layoffs. JJ Jenkins has made huge strides with his three-point shooting and could be a real leader. I’m cautiously optimistic.

For obvious reasons, this all feels a little besides the point after this weekend. Both men’s and women’s teams have cancelled their games on December 21st. I wouldn’t be surprised if the games on the 31st, both of which are against non-DI opponents, also got cancelled. I hope that the team takes some time away from campus with family and friends. Wins and losses the rest of the way feel immaterial; just to see the guys back on the court would be great.

The tragedy that unfolded this weekend is overwhelming for those of us who get to campus from time to time. Imagine what it must be like for them. I can’t even.

I didn’t know if the USC trip would be maybe welcome for them in the wake of all this. I was disappointed that they cancelled the opportunity to play in that arena and have a trip together like that. But I trust they made the decision based on where the players’ heads were at.

The team has been much better with Lewis back and AO coming off the bench. Providence was an eye-opener; they got some lucky bounces but really competed well. I have never looked twice at Luke Paragon, but if he doesn’t hurt them defensively and can hit the three, then he’ll be a reasonable replacement for AJ and maybe have a chance to stick. We need shooters and he’s one of the few.

Other big change has been Langham, who went from very productive to looking uncomfortable and uncertain. File that under typical Freshman stuff as he figures it out.

Condolences to the Brown community. Hopefully, the perpetrator will be caught soon and brought to justice.

I hope the Brown community finds peace soon. A heartbreaking event.

I hadn’t realized that Lesburt entered the portal. I knew he had some sort of injury, but didn’t see that coming. Was he set to be out for the season? I expected him to play a Senior leadership role.

He indicated he was considering sitting out before the beginning of the year and confirmed the decision when he was cleared to play in mid-November.

Thank you for your thoughts.

I haven’t been posting much on this site, but seeing this, it’s yet another unspeakable tragedy. I pray that they not only find and punish the murderer, but ascertain why he would shoot up a Brown classroom building at finals. I just cannot understand it.

They found the guy dead and we can surmise the motive, but I don’t know if we’ll ever know for sure. It appears to be a murder suicide and as with all such crimes, it is unfathomable that someone needs to take someone with him. Especially students who had no connection to him except Brown University. Tragic.

It is probably futile to search for rationality, but I can’t believe he harbored this level of resentment

for a school he left more than two decades ago. I wonder if a more recent trigger will be identified.

Again, hoping the fact that he can’t do more harm brings some comfort to those most affected.
