The Columbia women have entered the building. Let’s Go!
Nice start!!
If Mia Broom were to get into foul trouble, who is our backup point guard?
Is there something wrong with Perri Page? I’m surprised she’s spending so much time on the bench.
I assume Nasi
I like the way Meg is rotating players in off the bench this half. Tenacious defense by Nasi.
I don’t know what caused it, but this team is playing on another intensity level this entire WBIT.
32-17 Lions at the half.
Could it be attributed to Mia at point guard in place of Maria?
Weiss with the dagger there. She makes ridiculous shots on a fairly regular basis.
Columbia just showed what we knew from the Harvard game: Wisconsin is not a very good team.
Columbia showed that they are a good team.
They are. But a Harvard matchup would probably have resulted in better basketball across the board.
I think they’re just playing a bit looser and more relaxed. Even Meg seems less stressed. The Ivy League season is a grind and the last two games were stressful and very disappointing. There’s nothing to lose in the WBIT and the team has responded well.
Good game by Riley. She forced some mid-range shots, but played her expected leading role on both ends of the court.
Mia, Perri, and Suzie were each a rebound or point or two away from a double double. Terrific leadership by Mia.
Hilke was a big asset. Good two-way inside and outside player with great
instincts.
Nasi and Eirny were really terrific on defense. Nasi is my favorite
not named Perri Page. She just needs to re-find her shot in the off-season. Does anyone remember Chuck Knoblach playing 2nd base for the Yankees? Sometimes you think about it too much. We may not lose that much defensively in going from Perri to Eirny next year, but I’m not sure if Eirny has an offensive game compared to Perri’s elite offensive skills.
Im glad all our healthy bench players (minus Shay Shippen, assuming she is healthy) got in the game.
Free throw shooting was bad. I hope
this doesn’t hurt us in a tight final.
This was a one-sided game from start to finish with Columbia dominating in every aspect. Everyone played well for Columbia and it seemed evident that Columbia was a much better team than Wisconsin. Kansas is playing BYU now in the second semi-final game. I assue that Columbia will be the underdog in the Championship Game regardles whether their opponent is Kansas or BYU.
Big fourth quarter for BYU and they beat Kansas 70-67. Don’t know enough about either team to have an opinion on which would be a better matchup for Lions, but this will make it feel like a neutral (and probably sparsely-attended) site in Wichita.
I mean, there weren’t even so many fans at this game, either.
I only watched the last few minutes, and it seemed like there were at least SOME people there. Columbia game looked and sounded very empty
BYU will be Columbia’s opponent in the WBIT Championship Game Wednesday night after defeating Kansas 70-67 in the second semi -final game. It’s probably beneficial for the Lions to play BYU rather than the hometown Kansa team.
Hopefully someone can make a Seder for Weiss in Wichita after winning MVP honors Wednesday night.
Coach G confirmed in the press conference that Perri was under the weather today. Hence, her minutes were down and her energy seemed lower than usual (she was still great). We’ll need her healthy for the final.
