Women Need Win @ Harvard

Following their home loss to Cornell, the women face a tall task at Harvard on Saturday. They need to pull off an upset to avoid an 0-2 start. Look for big performances from Page and Rafiu, while Henderson provides steadiness. In Meg we trust. Go Lions!

Totally agree with you and, of course, I trust Meg, who is a great coach. However, the main problem with this year’s team is that none of the newcomers have contributed at all. Unless that changes, Meg has to rely on Henderson, Page and Rafu to step up their scoring and rebounding which has not happened yet.

Yes, and with the exception of Shippen, most of the newcomers were recruited from European basketball. In the past, by half way into the season, someone has usually broken out of the pack and distinguished themselves as a potential contributor. But this year, no one yet has from this cohort. Together with Weiss’ increasing streakiness, the team seems poised for ever-shrinking projections.

Columbia jumped out to a 20-3 1st Qtr lead, then withstood a 31-11 Harvard run in the 2nd half to win it, 58-55.

Perri Page with another game-winner in the closing seconds. She finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 steals. Nicely done!
