who won the League title?

Classy.

And you get the title and 1 seed for it. But POY is a completely different business. It’s called PLAYER of the year, not TEAM of the year.

Kessler, you are a total Columbia homer. Princeton is the outright champ and St. Rose was the team’s senior leader and MVP so deserves POY. I expect there will be two Tigers, not two Lions, on the 1st team.

I guess then you would argue Henderson should have won POY and not Turner?

St. Rose shouldn’t even be in the conversation. SHE’S COMPLETELY OVERRATED. In a stronger season, she wouldn’t even get first team consideration. She’s a good player, not a great player.

Like being the outright champs is the only consideration for POY lol. St. Rose is not even the clear best player on the Princeton team. Belker and Tall are not far away (I would add Chea but her season has definitely not been close to her best level, besides some clutch 3s)

She was disappointing. Great team but she was just ok. Probably sneaks onto the first time because Princeton won the league.

No. Turner deserved it last year. She was the dominant player on a contending team.
I think Weiss is less valuable to Columbia than Page. St. Rose is the best player on a balanced team that won the League

Come on. Now you sound like a fool. St Rose is maybe your third best player.

Pretty clear you are the fool.
No one else is questioning that St. Rose had to be in the
POY discussion.Did you watch any games?

I agree with megan griffith at a press conference yesterday when she said there was no superstar in the league. In previous seasons, a superstar won player of the year. Turner was a superstar, Abby Hsu was a superstar, Kaitlyn Chen was a superstar. There have been Princeton players in previous years who were superstars. Madison Saint rose is not that. She’s been a flat out minor disappointment relative to the expectations when she was recruited. (They’ve had team success, but they have also lost four consecutive games to Columbia.) Riley Weiss had great moments this year, but had poor games too. I agree that Perri Page is more valuable to Columbia IMO. Nevertheless, Riley has the numbers and should win the award unanimously.

Those arguments are a bit more fair but still very subjective. And the fact that you use the card “regular season winners” as you wish, makes your whole point very weak.

Yes, Perri has been insane this season. Yes, she is very important to Columbia. But the truth is that when Weiss hasn’t had her best game, our success rate is not good (2/4 in league play, 5/8 overall). Meanwhile, when Page hasn’t had a good night, we are still a good team (4/5 in league play, 5/6 overall). Perri was really good on two of our toughest losses (Harvard and Cornell). So I would argue Weiss is clearly the most impactful and valuable player for the team.

Good points re: Riely vs Perri

I watched her get cooked by Weiss

You’re contradicting yourself.

St Rose is a solid player but not great. Not in the same league CeCe Collins who was only second team All-Ivy last year. Not in the same league a Kaitlyn Chen. Her reputation preceeds her because of her heavy recruitment. We wouldn’t even be talking about her if she wasn’t such a star recruit 4 years ago.

And in a year without “great players,” as you and your coach have described it, even more consideration than usual should go to the senior leader of the conference champs. (seniors should, and usually do, get the nod over juniors.)

This “seniors should get the nod over juniors” is totally nonsense. And it is even more if you consider St. Rose is effectively a red-shirt junior, already in the transfer portal, and almost 100% will go somewhere else to play 1 extra season

The Princeton fans in this thread are either:

A. Trying to get a rise out of the Columbia fans
B. Delusional

There’s little/no chance that MSR will win POY. It might even be unanimous for Weiss.

1st Team:
Weiss*
Page*
MSR
Tall
White

2nd Team:
Arnolie
Moreland
Wright
Belker
Hutcherson

Worth a Mention:
Moore
Pape
Kaus
Collins
Gayle
Chea
Rafiu
Jones
Glenn-Bello
