Yale II

As we saw the last time, Yale usually gives up threes to opposing bigs; going to need Batties—and Parrish—to make a bunch of them tonight. Would also be big if we could get 6-10 hustle points/layups off cuts from Mannino (especially if Eisendrath remains allergic to making shots. He’s another X-factor, of course; he’s going to have his chances from three).

Defensively, we need to focus on Mullin and Fox from three, and try to make Simmons and Celiscar make shots instead.

simmons/celiscar were just enough esp without townsend from 2h on

regardless i think amaker is outcoaching james 3x in a row

Really terrible way to end what was a really hard-fought, physical game.

Obviously they missed Townsend in the second half, but they didn’t miss a beat with Braithwaite and Fox coming in to stretch the court. That, by the way, is where we lost the game. Other than Batties—who once again came up big against them—we didn’t have anyone who could make a three; Barbour was 1 of 8, despite getting some pretty pristine looks. It didn’t help that we had two of our worst offensive possessions at the end of regulation and overtime when we had a chance to win or pad the lead.

Our defense was phenomenal throughout. Eisendrath was a menace on the perimeter and Batties cleaned up inside.

The big story is that we match up well with Yale. Pigge is one of the few bigs in the Ivies with both the speed and strength to stay with Townsend and make him work for his points; Batties makes it hard for them to play Aletan because he makes Aletan guard out on the perimeter where he’s not comfortable; and even Eisendrath has enough of a height advantage over Mullin to be a threat on offense, which he usually isn’t, in addition to playing his usual lockdown defense.

Two games separated by one point. I hope we get a rubber match in Ithaca.

no doubt harvard matches up well in part because they dont match them and play to their strengths.

yale needs to make some adjustments if there is a round 3.

amaker makes them each time on defense

the harvard pg played incredibly well. mullin had been on a heater and he got in his head tonight

What happened to Townsend?

Inadvertent elbow to the lip after a blocked shot at the start of the second half. Sat out after that with what I assume was the concussion protocol.
