$112,500 been going up $2500 a year
Does that matter? I’m sure Penn’s not looking to shell out more than they were giving Donahue…
Uh $112 thousand, less than a penn undergrad makes in consulting or ibanking
You would think the new penn coach is lined up so he can talk to current players about not entering portal and well as players who enter from elsewhere, do we hear tomm?
I take a certain amount of solace in the fact nobody has entered the portal yet (at least that I know of). In contrast, Columbia already has 3 in the portal.
Is there any way to look this up?
Yes. www.verbalcommits.com.
You do know that he doesn’t pay the players, right? What is the relevance of his current salary?
Only Cobb is leaving Columbia
Technically, there are 3 in the portal and Arop has indicated he will join them. Hovde will likely convince some to return.
Thanks
The ivy section seems to have very good info on hs recruits and transfers in a clear fashion
Just that he would make a LOT more money at any d1 school, giving him incentive to leave
That’s a pretty low number these days and less than Penn Engineerining (his major at Penn) make coming out of school
Also, you can select “transfers” in the drop down menu and then enter the name of a school in the search box. Anyone in the portal will show up there.
Bedri and Noland in the portal as well.
well Sam Brown in the portal now …
FWIW – Today’s Hoop Dirt update:
Penn’s Coaching Search: Could Fran McCaffery Make a Homecoming?
While NYU’s David Klatsky still appears to be the hottest name at Penn, the most interesting name I’ve heard now from a bunch of people is former Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery. The Philadelphia native played at Penn, and began his coaching career there. McCaffery, who has also been the head coach at Siena, UNC Greensboro, and Lehigh, has a career record of 548–384 (.588). More on this search as I hear it.
It really feels like it’s down to Klatsky and McCaffery. If you want immediate results then Fran makes sense. It’s obvious he wants the job. But Klatsky is a rising star. A program-builder. If Fran comes, he’s probably coaching for what, five years max? I’d rather have the guy in his mid-forties who can stick around for a while.
Again, portal or no portal, only Cobb is actually leaving Columbia besides possibly Arop.
Would rather have Krikorian. Plenty young, not on the downside of his career and stepping down from another program that just gave him the boot, he’d be moving up. Klatsky might be good, but I just worry about his model. Can’t use grad kids. Krikorian has been building – and sustaining – success for years. I’d love to have that at Penn again! And I don’t care how much money he makes. He’d be coming back to alma mater – that’s all any of these guys want. He’s just a proven coach.
