Game Thread: Dartmouth II

Late start @ 8pm (EST). I suspect Malik will be out of the lineup after apparently tweaking his hammy.

Opens Princeton -7 1/2 O/U 146 1/2

Only a glutton for punishment will lay the points against the Indians tonight.

It’s the Big Green.

1-12 start despite 4 blocks.

Offense hitting a new low.

Right back to no offense flow. Last night we were posting up and whatnot. Everyone just standing around 3 pt line tonight.

This is the worst offense I’ve ever seen. Is it Joe Scott Night?

Dartmouth might win this by 40.

I’m starting to wonder if the players actually follow the game plan some games.

They seem to get enamored shooting jumpers and don’t want to drive, post up, etc. While it’s always a reflection of coaching, MH teams have never had these types of complete flop games.

Nobody is ever cutting to the rim either.

Just when you think they’ve turned a corner, they hit a new low: 6pts with 7:51 left in the first half!

This team is playing with zero confidence. Sometimes making shots is just shooting confidently. Right now, they “know” their shots aren’t going in no matter how wide open they are.

Xaivian’s got to take over this game. I don’t care if he has 35 and no one else has 10.

Just win this game. Dartmouth can’t guard him - stop trying to get Happy and Hicke going and play to your strengths. Lee will find the open man if they double.

Down 8pts with the ball… Peters and Davis chuck long 3s. What is wrong with these players?

Get it back to Lee. Let him take it to the rim. If he gets doubled, then he’ll kick out.

Pierce has got to be hurt? POY just not a factor again.

He is killing us tonight. Awful TO off a great Davis steal - leads to a Dartmouth 3.

Whenever we get close, someone makes an idiotic turnover.

4pt play by Lee off a great tipout by Hicke!

Trailing 32-28 at the half, but it feels like a 14pt lead after that start.

Mitch needs to learn to go with the hot hand - Lee and Davis are leading the way. Let Pierce, Hicke, Happy do the dirty work while the guys making shots score the buckets.

I honestly think one reason the team comes out so flat is that Mitch sticks to his pregrame strategy too rigidly instead of simply letting his best players play.

Columbia’s collapse without Rubio DLR really shook up this year’s ILT race: Dartmouth and Harvard both scored 2 wins off a Geronimo-less Lions team. Two freebies right there.

It would be just our luck if he came back next weekend to beat us.

For all we know he wants to feed Lee but other players want to score. We will never know.

I think he wants Lee to set up his teammates first, which worked in non-conf. But in Ivy play, assists go way down because all the teams know each other’s plays/action so well.

Meanwhile, we keep turning it over instead of shooting confidently. Peters passed up two wide-open 3s that could have tied the game and instead threw it away.

Cut to the rim and you score. Nice.

Lee draws so much attention in the paint, guys should be cutting from the dunker spots all game.

Lee should be shooting his midrange J. He’s been automatic with it this weekend but now he’s forcing layups that are getting blocked/altered. Ivy refs aren’t calling any light contact.

Aaaaand now we’ve collapsed. Lee has gone cold and no one else can score.

Peters commits a dumb 3pt foul on Amundson and we’re down 15.

This game is over - Dartmouth out-toughed and outsmarted us. What a frustrating season.
