There are quite a few teams. At least four from USA: Wash DC, LA, MIami and Phoenix. Pierce is on the Phoenix team. Not sure how funding and travel are handled.

Looks like its a pro tour with travel stipends
The FIBA 3x3 World Tour offers substantial prize money, with the champion of the main events typically receiving $40,000. Other top teams also receive significant payouts, such as $30,000 for second place, $22,000 for third, and $16,000 for fourth. Some tournaments, like the Jeddah Final, have even larger prize pools, with the winner taking home $60,000. Additionally, there are prizes for fastest wins in the main draw, individual awards based on performance statistics, and travel stipends for teams.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

  • Main Tournament Prizes:

    • Champion: $40,000
    • Runner-up: $30,000
    • Third place: $22,000
    • Fourth place: $16,000
  • Other Prizes:

    • Fastest win in the main draw (subject to time limit): $2,000 according to FIBA 3x3
    • Individual season prize money based on performance stats (PVAL)
  • Challenger Tournaments:

    • First place: $20,000
    • Second place: $15,000
    • Third place: $11,000
    • Fourth place: $8,000
  • Travel Expenses:

FIBA also provides travel stipends for teams to cover travel costs, with varying amounts based on location.

  • Season-Long Incentives:

The total prize money for the season is expected to reach around $5 million USD.

OK now I’m really confused. So Caruso is plyaing for Miami and Pierce for Phoenix, both part of FIBA 3x3.
