Yes, this is the basketball-u forum that I frequented on and off for a while, so the same I think: http://boards.basketball-u.com/
A lot of posts on that old board advertising migration to this new site. However, the engagement on that platform is all but dead. Ivy Hoops Online is a neat site that produces articles for current Ivy games, good way to catch up on away games.
Great win in a pretty raucous environment (best I’ve seen Dartmouth’s crowd in over a decade) Bez was unbelievable. Dartmouth did a great job on Poulakidas. Wonder if Yale will go strictly 7 man rotation in the postseason. (Starters + Fox/Celiscar). Riley’s fearless and can offset any defensive weakness with his shooting.
i watched last 10 mins on replay. agree, good win.
dartmouth is solid esp at home. cornish is balling.
yes we are taking adv of a down IL tho. they are defending poula well. we will need him to make more tough shots to will this out when it matters. he really doesnt get any gimmes like ever
i keep thinking these teams sans dartmouth ( who is playing well) are just better and like last years brown someone bounces hard.
so we need to improve. the pressure grows. and its exhausting fighting against history so you almost need to learn from adversity to win the two that count.
james, so who is the IL men’s basketball Player of the Year? The selection committee will most probably be looking at the Yale roster; and only the Yale roster, given the five game difference in the standings with 85% of the season done. Who will it be, james? (I say Poulakidas.)
Yes. Excellent points; outstanding choice - Bez can guard anybody on the court at anytime! And I know, I need to consider ONLY the fourteen game regular season, but Poulakidas’ history does cloud my brain; factors I should be dismissing have gotten me to my (preferred) conclusion - like Poulakidas’ work over the years at Jadwin; like what he did versus a great Auburn team; and the fact that he’ll always be out there with the Greek Gods by his side! That’s where I’m at; that’s what I’m mindful of; knowing it could just be I’m completely out of my mind!
i dont think its close, honestly, if one is objective.
bez won the game last night with the pressure he put on the defense turning nearly every miss into a transition oppty.
that coupled with his defensive pressure on a team winning at least 12 league games makes him POY.
of course when you hard hedge every ball screen to defend a kid with a jumper bag as deep as poula…then it opens up lots of things like the lane for townsend, or mbeng to drive.
and dartmouth did last night what i said princeton (then cornell) shldve done. and did it reasonably well…namely, double townsend only when he gets close to the paint.
they also are getting lucky that we didnt shoot well or to our avgs bc no matter where you double townsend that opens up the perimeter game bc he is an elite passer for a big.
he is developing a sneaky good touch and he gets looks bc of the big 3 and the attention they deserve.
same can be said for simmons so need those guys to assert themselves when the lane opens to pull it off.
But james, I already let it be known that I’m lacking in a lot of things; objectivity only one of them. And, anyway, who’s objective in this world other than you and Volodymyr Zelenskyy - you see where that’s gotten the two of you! As Taurean Prince was kind enough to school me on the voting process, I’m thinking John P needs four votes for the award; with most coaches being less objective than me, past history and how good a job one hand did in washing the other will take on an oversized level of importance: So, Mitch Henderson’s remembering Poulakidas’ work at Jadwin, with only a half/dozen Princeton opponents having put in more than 30 points in a game played in that gym’s fifty-five year history; I figure he’ll get James Jones’ vote - I mean the guy may coach at Yale till the day before he drops and accumulate 700 victories; but the wins at The Dance (versus Baylor, etc.) are the ones that will secure a place for this venerable coach in the Naismith Hall; and Poulakidas got him one for the ages against Auburn! Thus, Jones’ Poulakidas vote will serve as a down payment on the debt of gratitude for his foundational service toward development of the Jones legacy. John will also get the Columbia vote - the game between the two schools in New York City ended in a four point difference. Columbia’s actually a lot better than people may care to know and Poulakidas’ six three point goals at Levien swung the result, earlier this season . So, right there, that’s three votes I see for John; and though I can’t blame most of you guys for underestimating Columbia, I wouldn’t be so dismissive of the influence of the Greek Gods - they’ll surely come
up with that necessary fourth vote for Poulakidas. Call this crazy; call this outlandish. All I know is that if objectivity ruled the day, then Volodymyr Zelenskyy would have been able to leave Washington last night and head home, with a smile on his face - wearing clean clothing and all kinds of money falling out of his pockets!
I know nothing of Yale’s NIL situation. Bez at least has some deal with a local real estate company from the socials. Would love to know if Sherrod or somebody could administer deals
