I am surprised. I figured she would start next year
and get the lionâs share of minutes at the 5 on a team
favored to win the League. Not sure who replaces her.
Major loss. Hard to understand.
Yea, a surprise. Going to a middle-of-the-pack ACC team that didnât make the NCAA tourney last year, but maybe she thinks sheâll help them improve. I wonder if there was some chemistry issue with Carla and her staff, since though she had to deal with injuries, she never really developed as expected from a recruit so highly ranked. The UVA coach took a not-so-subtle shot by saying, âShe has some untapped versatility to her game that Iâm excited to develop.â This makes the roster even smaller - now 11 players assuming St. Rose is back from the ACL. If not, only 10 players. All hands on deck.
Iâve never chatted with Tabby and have no inside info. But Iâm guessing she was frustrated with her diminished usage in the latter part of the year. Perhaps a falling out with the coaching staff? I agree it doesnât make a lot of sense since all the players she was losing playing time to are graduating.
Next year, looks like Coach B will have to hope that Taylor Charles or Emily Eadie can play the 5. Or maybe Sarah Lessig â29, who has the size but more of a wing skill set.
Did lose playing time but katie thiers earned those minutes. Didnât see significant development. Still a tough loss.Unexpected.
I donât understand why Carla and her staff have not yet dipped their toes in the international recruiting pool. Just about all the other Ivies have, particularly Columbia. Princeton should be an attractive destination for talented international players like Henderson, Rafiu, Rodriguez, Chatira, Almquist and others in the League. I wonder what the obstacles are.
I donât get why princeton doesnât use the portal for those that would meet admission requirements
I donât quite understand those professing not to understand this. Viriginia is a fine academic school and I have to assume they offered her money. Money is what is behind the Ivies losing just about all underclassmen, both male and female to the Portal.
Hard to understand cause you go to PU for 3 yrs transfer for probably not crazy money. Has to be a backstory here.
What do you consider to be ânot crazy money?â Given this âgiftâ for womenâs basketball at UVA, it might be not entirely ânot crazyâ. Ohanian's Virginia Women's Basketball Donation Worth $776K Yearly
With new Reddit-backed funding supporting the UVA womenâs team, the available NIL money may exceed typical expectations.
Another factor to consider: Amanze received a medical redshirt year. Therefore, this move could span multiple years and potentially include a fully funded graduate degree ⌠Also, any possibility that Amanze could graduate in three years?
And if the NCAA subsequently goes to 5 years of eligibility, perhaps a year after that.
Gotcha. Good luck to her. Princeton degree still has to carry significant weight
Thatâs what the Harvard guys thought, as well. But a 6 figure salary for 2-3 years and a UVA degree (itâs not as though Princeton wonât be on the resume) is tough to turn down. Most of the transfers are to good academic schoolsâbeing able to bank significant money now for kids who probably wonât make the top pro leaguesâis very appealing.
I was surprised and a little stunned when I saw that Tabitha had decided to transfer. This is the first such loss for the womenâs program. Another example of how big money is affecting the stability of Ivy programs. given that she would have had an expanded role in her senior year, money must have at least partially affected her decision. I wish her well. This mustâve been a great disappointment for her teammates.
