Temple (ESPN Events Invitational)

I agree with Perry Clark that the Tigers went away too much from spreading the floor and taking threes.

Refs putting a stop to any comeback. When it rains, it pours. Nothing going our way - even the commentators are in disbelief.

MH rightly outraged at the bogus call on Happy. WTF?

Bullshit call!

11 seconds left, Down 4 and you wait 6 seconds to foul?

It doesn’t look like they have been trying to foul. Not sure why, but they are playing for the steal only. The fouls are coming as a result of aggressive reach-ins.

Bad call but it didn’t matter in the outcome. 2 teams with tremendous turnover and neither is very good right now. But a long way to go.

And now you foul with 0.3. What’s the point?

Stanton is unstoppable when he’s determined to shoot.

If only he didn’t go 20 minutes of game time between shot attempts every game.

Have to agree about Stanton shooting more from outside. Lots of possessions where even a contested shot by him would have had better expected outcome than what they got.

Tigers showed a lot tonight. If they keep improving at this pace, they’ll make some noise in the Ivies.

Mitch needs to tell Stanton to shoot like crazy every single game. There’s no bad shot when he takes a 3. He’s got a deep bag of moves and can hit off-balance shots like FTs. It’s so clear he’s trying “not to be selfish” even when no one else can hit a shot.

This would have been a win if Mitch just told Jack to take over. Or if he never put McSweeney in - that sequence turned the whole game around for Temple.

Agreed that neither team looked good tonight or is now overall. Of course, tough without your floor general, I suspect things will improve once he returns.

Stanton goes for 18 points with 5/11 from deep, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 0 turnovers in 36 minutes. Wow!

Yep, that was questionable. A bit earlier in the half, I thought that Ford got called for a very questionable offensive foul, no team really had a monopoly on bad calls.

No. Temple did

I’m not even mad about the horrible call(s) at the end. Refs almost always favor the bigger conference opponents.

We blew it by not being more aggressive. Stanton needs to be the go-to scorer with Davis out. If he’s not taking 15+ shots per game, then it’s major coaching failure.

If the team is actually learning from all this, we should find out on 12/22.

And yet the game was winable; Clark and Happy each missed the front end of 1&1 opportunities, and HIcke missed two short shots near the rim.

I hope they have something left for Vermont.

Anybody find out what gave Hicke that eye shiner? Maybe an elbow from Monday’s game?
